1. Directs activities related to the hiring process (both hourly and salaried positions) including recruiting (use of newspapers, radio stations, minority organizations and state agency), screening (interviewing, background checks, Job Candidate Profile, use of functional team member tests), selection, I-9 verification and new hire orientation.*

2.  Participates in contract negotiations.  Researches bargaining history, conducts wage and benefit survey, analyzes union proposals to determine Company impact, makes recommendations on Company proposals, drafts contract language, organizes Company strategy, maintains a record of bargaining discussions with the union, and ensures labor agreement is revised according to the agreed upon changes.*

3.  Provides advice and counsel to managers/supervisors on disciplinary and labor contract matters.  Conducts investigatory meetings and disciplinary meetings with team members.  Ensures supervisors are consistent in applying discipline.*

4.  Responsible for coordinating activities related to arbitrations.  Researches facts, interviews and prepares witnesses, documents investigations and meetings, coordinates with attorney, serves as a witness, drafts brief, etc.  Participates in union grievances, including researching issue, documenting minutes and communicating the Company’s decisions after the meeting.*

5.  Develops and administers incentive plans.  Monitors success of plans.

 6.    Responsible for compliance with EEO policy.  Refers situation to Corporate Human Resources for investigation and resolving discrimination and harassment complaints (both internal and external).  Ensures Company is in compliance with Affirmative Action Plan, including tracking applicants, new hires, promotions, and terminations, use of minority recruiting sources, executing action oriented programs, etc.  Coordinates EEO training as appropriate.*

7. Oversees the administration of the job bidding system, including posting and removing bids, analyzing candidates and awarding the bid to the most qualified candidate.*

 8. Oversees the administration of the Absentee Program, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of absences and tardiness, perfect attendance awards are distributed properly, and discipline is applied when appropriate.*

  9.  Oversees a variety of Human Resources administrative functions including performance evaluations during a team member’s probationary period, enrolling team members in our benefit programs at the conclusion of the appropriate waiting period, A to B classification reviews, vacation approval and usage, etc.*

 10.  Responsible for developing or implementing Human Resources training for Company Plant managers and supervisors.*

11.  Oversees the completion of a variety of reports for Corporate, EEOC, and the Department of Labor.*

Requirements

1.  5-10 years’ experience in Human Resources, Benefit Administration and/or Employee and Labor Relations. 

2.  Experience in a Union environment and contract negotiations experience manufacturing environment required.
