HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

SUMMARY

Aquatera is a well-established Water / Wastewater and Solid Waste Utility provider with operations in the Grande Prairie Region. We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Manager, Human Resources to lead and manage the entire HR function.

The position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's Human Resources by designing, planning, implementing world class Human Resources policies, programs, and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and execute best-practice strategies for core Human Resources policies and programs, including compensation, succession and career planning, training and competency development, performance appraisals, recruitment, onboarding and team member retention;
  • Provide strategic input to ensure all Human Resources programs and processes are integrated and align with organizational culture and values;
  • Partner with key business leaders to identify areas of opportunity while continuously improving Human Resources processes and supporting departmental goals and growth;
  • Facilitate and participate in the identification of key talent indicators, leadership development and succession planning processes
  • Assess organizational learning and development requirements and support the implementation of training and development initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Act as a change agent to build awareness of new Human Resources processes and facilitate successful process, behavior and cultural change;
  • Act as an advisor and HR Business Partner on Human Resources related issues to executives and all levels of team members within the company;
  • Adhere to and provide expertise around Employee Labour Standards;
  • Create and implement Human Resource Policies and Guidelines;
  • Take the lead on Performance Management during annual reviews;
  • Assist with hiring, coaching, progressive discipline and terminations;
  • Manage the total compensation program to ensure compensation is aligned internally and is also competitive in the external market as well as lead bi-annual compensation benchmarking
  • Manage all employee benefits and groups savings plan contracts and ensure effective and efficient administration and broker relationship and contract management effectiveness
  • Manage the policy framework and ensure adequacy and compliance of all human resources policies
  • Develop, maintain and report key metrics and data on human resources activities as well as organizational people indicators and ensure responsive action as required
  • Report to the Board of Directors and HR Committee as required
  • Ensure proactive and effective WCB claims management and account administration in all jurisdictions to meet regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the effective and professional management of all leaves, disability claims, work accommodations and modified work arrangements
  • Develop and maintain Human Resources systems and processes

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 10 years of broad and deep Human Resources Management experience including HR strategy, talent management, compensation, performance management, change leadership, data analytics, HRIS, policy and legal compliance
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in human resources or business administration required
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction;
  • Proven leadership skills, with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in the administration of Benefits and Compensation programs and other Human Resources programs;
  • Working knowledge of the principles and methods of managing organizational change and organizational development;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to varied audiences.
  • Solid consultative, facilitation and presentation skills;
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills;
  • An Alberta Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the Employer will be required at time of in-person interview
