St. Augustine College is an independent, bilingual (dual-language) institution of higher education created under the auspices of the Episcopal Diocese to make the American system of higher education accessible to a diverse student population with emphasis on those of Hispanic/Latino descent; to strengthen ethnic identity; to reinforce cultural interaction; and to build a bridge to fill cultural, educational, and socio-economic gaps.


OPPORTUNITY

St. Augustine College is currently seeking a personable Human Resources Manager (HRM) to assist the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (COO/CFO) and the management team in leading the HR function. In this position, you will primarily act as a consultant for the college management on all issues related to human resources. You should be a proactive communicator and change agent who can successfully balance employee needs with the vision and strategies of the institution to create integrated solutions.

The HRM will play a key role as an innovative change agent. The HRM must have a collaborative approach that inspires trust. The HRM will be responsible for creating a high performing institution while focusing on talent strategy & planning, sourcing & recruiting, performance management, learning & development, succession planning, leadership development, compensation, and retention. SUMMARYOF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, provide leadership, guidance and support to the Human Resources function to provide effective HR service delivery to 100+ employees;
  • Serve as the HR advisor to the CFO/CFO. Partner with the leaders to deliver innovative, high-quality, and efficient HR support as well as to influence strategy and processes for topics such as organizational transformation, HRIS implementation, HR process optimization/digitization, and data analytics;
  • Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations.
  • Establish strong working relationships with leaders and support the strategic direction of the business in both day-to-day operations and strategic planning;
  • Design, build, and deploy organizational effectiveness programs and solutions in support strategic and operational priorities;
  • Utilize HR analytics, analyze trends and metrics in partnership with management to develop solutions, programs and policies;
  • Coach and counsel leaders at all levels through key business and people decisions including leadership placement, organizational design, risk, and regulatory considerations, and investigations/disciplinary actions;
  • Conduct internal investigations and serve as a trusted resource for employees to raise concerns or complaints;
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees;
  • Coordinate the functional planning and execution of annual HR processes, including goal setting, performance assessment, promotion decisions, compensation planning, employee benefit plans, and talent management;
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance;
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite;
  • Proficiency with managing and implementing HRIS and talent management systems.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development or related field, Business or related field;
  • 3 years of Human Resources management experience; 
  • 3 years of experience managing and implementing an HRIS system;
  • 3 years of experience in HR process optimization/digitization;
  • Human Resources certification (i.e., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP);

EXPECTATIONS AND BENEFITS

This position will be based out of St. Augustine’s main campus in Chicago. The position is full-time.

 The Human Resources Manager will be eligible for St. Augustine’s standard benefit plans including health, vision, dental, retirement, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance.
