Purpose:

The Human Resources Manager provides leadership at the Benson manufacturing site.   The individual will develop, implement, and manage company policies and procedures; manage all functional areas within Human Resources to include but not limited to employee relations, performance management, talent development,  salary administration, benefits, training, and staffing; keep plant management team abreast of changes in employment law as well as ensure legal compliance; make recommendations that encompass trends and new developments within the human resource area; and make decisions that are in the best interest of Berry Global. This role reports to the Director, Human Resources – HHS North America and has a strong dotted line to the Plant Director.

 Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a workforce which is enthusiastic, hardworking, team oriented and committed to furthering Berry’s mission of exceeding our customer’s expectations and our competitor’s capabilities.
  • Oversee the hiring, orientation, training, career development, transfers, job postings, benefits and personnel files of all employees.
  • Counsel employees, supervisors, and managers on matters of company policy and disciplinary measures.
  • Consult with managers to attract and retain top performers in our work force. Provide support for continuous improvement initiatives and succession planning
  • Develop and maintain wage and compensation programs.
  • Establish and maintain fair and consistent employee relations policies supporting our company culture and vision.
  • Responsible for termination and discharge of any Berry employee and oversee unemployment hearings.
  • Provide leadership, vision and development to operational staff through training, coaching and mentoring. Coordinate performance management and salary review processes.
  • Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Human Resources, Business Management preferred, and at least five years of related experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of HR leadership experience in a manufacturing setting is desired
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in conflict resolution, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality. 
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred.
