The Lukens Company is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager. This position is responsible for implementing and administering Human Resources practices and programs that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and development of a superior workforce while ensuring alignment with the overall vision of the organization. Located in Arlington, VA.


Responsibilities include:

Company Policies and Procedures

  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel and human resources policies and procedures in alignment with TLC’s overall vision, mission, and direction.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Advise managers on policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.

Recruiting and Staffing

  • Manage the recruitment process to seek new, qualified hires for all staff levels.
  • Onboard new hires and assist with guidance, development, and training as needed.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Create and manage job descriptions of current employees.

Employee Performance Management

  • Manage performance review process and feedback.
  • Implement performance and employee development programs.

Employee Safety, Welfare, and Wellness

  • Provide proactive guidance and counsel to managers and employees on employee relations issues.
  • Conduct needs assessment, develop training curriculum and conduct training sessions on various HR topics.
  • Serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Assist in coordination of employee moral activities.

Compensation and Benefits Administration

  • Manage company benefit plan and conduct annual open enrollment meetings and new employee enrollments.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits and make recommendations based on current company compensation, current market trends, and changing legislation.
  • Coordinate with finances to ensure timely and accurate pay and benefit process, including providing payroll changes, running payroll as needed, and reconciling monthly benefit invoices.

Records Administration

  • Prepare, recommend, and maintain records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data.
  • Design personnel forms and direct the maintenance of personnel records by all departments.
  • Keeps all files current, updated, and ready for any external or internal audit.


  • 5-7 years of experience in private sector, minimum 3 years in Human Resources required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and goal-oriented, can-do attitude are a must.
  • Willingness to learn and become an advocate of the company vision, mission, values, and culture.
