TITLE:                               Human Resources Manager

LOCATION:                     Alexandria, VA

DEPARTMENT:               Human Resources

FLSA:                                 Exempt


REPORTS TO:           Executive Director, Human Resources

 

SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager has overall responsibility for providing support in various human resources functional areas including recruitment, training and development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

Partners with the Executive Director of Human Resources to identify best practices and organizational efficiencies, as well as coach and train employees and managers to properly apply human resources policies and procedures.

Provides HR counsel and support to division managers on employee relations issues related to performance management, discipline, policy interpretations, workforce planning, etc., working with the Executive Director, Human Resources and General Counsel as appropriate.

Coaches managers on building more effective teams and assisting with employee engagement activities.

Conducts position audits, oversees the review and update of all position descriptions, analyzes job descriptions for appropriate grading and FLSA classification, internal equity and market analysis.

Participates in the recruitment process to ensure a continuous applicant pool; Assists with recruiting efforts including development of sourcing strategies, passive candidate outreach and active referral and lead generation for all positions.

Assists with the design of NCMEC’s Total Rewards program. Focus on external competitiveness, internal equity, and strategic alignment.

Oversees and helps to enhance the design and use of performance and learning management systems including the training and support of all employees in use of the systems.

Creates professional and leadership development programs and coordinates required employee training in areas to include harassment prevention and other employment-related policies.

Facilitates the annual performance evaluation process, including communications and the collection and recording of related data.

Manages the exit interview process, collects exit data and reports data regularly with strategic recommendations.

Serves as the SharePoint Administrator for the Human Resources team and ensures all content is regularly updated.

Supervises the HR Assistant.

Other duties and special projects as required and assigned by the Executive Director of Human Resources.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations influencing HR functions.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

Strong analytical, organization, problem solving and presentation skills.

Excellent written and verbal skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels of the organization. 

Ability to handle and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

This position supervises the Human Resources Assistant.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources or business administration.

Minimum of 5-7 years’ previous work experience as an HR Generalist.

Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional designations (SHRM-CP) a plus.

Experience working for nonprofit organizations.
