As a member of the Human Resources team, the HR Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department that serves a staff of 150+ across two DC-based locations.  This position manages the HR Coordinator and is responsible for developing, leading, and evaluating a variety of human resources functions, policies, and procedures including benefits administration, recruiting, on-boarding, off-boarding, performance management and employee relations.  The HR Manager is a leader position that consults with management and employees on human resources programs and offerings.  As a member of the HR Team, the HR Manager consistently demonstrates support for and embodiment of the HRA Values and helps guide others in doing so.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer HRA’s Benefits Program.
  • Lead recruiting, staffing, retention efforts and off-boarding.
  • Manage and maintain HRIS system and vendor relationship.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure efficient departmental operations and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Partner with VP of HR on employee relations, experience, and engagement. 
  • Actively contribute to management of employee wellness program.
  • Actively participate in retirement and investment and risk management and safety committees.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and ability to plan, implement, and administer benefits program, systems, policies, guidelines, compliance, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of general HR functions including recruitment, engagement, and employee relations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use HRIS system. 

Education and Experience:

  • College degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent field or combination of education and experience. PHR/SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in multi-HR disciplines, including experience in benefits management and administration, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
