JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist provides understanding of human resources disciplines, including but not limited to, employee engagement, talent acquisition, performance management, benefits, regulatory compliance, policy and procedure interpretation.  This position has a focus on talent acquisition and is responsible for guiding candidates and selected employees through the pre-hiring and hiring processes, including the interviewing and selection of quality candidates, their onboarding to the company, on-going check-ins during the new employee’s introductory period, and upon completion of their employment, the exit interview process.  This position supports managers from all programs through the hiring process, interviewing, and selection of high-quality candidates for roles ranging from entry-level to senior management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruiting activities including working with hiring managers to manage open positions, conducting pre-screens, coordinating interviews, and initiate pre-hire paperwork.
  • Conduct on-boarding of new employees, including new hire orientation, benefits enrollment and organization-specific requirements.
  • Conduct 30-60-90 check-ins with new employees and their direct supervisor.
  • Ensure company maintains compliance with local, state and federal laws and best practices.  Perform annual review of Pro-Vac’s Employee Handbook and HR policies.
  • Partner with employees and management to communicate human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations. 
  • Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints. 
  • Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs. 
  • Assist managers with performance reviews.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analysis of exit reasons to determine causes of employee departures and offer recommendations to improve employee retention.
  • Prepare new-employee files – assist with moving to digital system.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting of state and federal documentation required. (i.e., e-verification, new hire reporting, etc.)  Respond to any EEOC and NLRB charges. 
  • Represent the company for any unemployment claims. 
  • Make photocopies; mail, scan and email documents; and perform other clerical functions.  Assist or prepare correspondence as requested. 

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Human Resources: Minimum of two (2) years
  • Recruiting: One (1) year preferred
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to demonstrate resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to handle high level of confidential information.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent education, training and experience preferred.
  • Certification as Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is a plus.
