Emmaus is a faith-based organization providing permanent homes, in-home services and advocacy for persons with Intellectual and other Developmental Disabilities

 

The Human Resources Generalist assumes the responsibility of several functions in the Human Resources department including recruitment and retention activities, orientation and training. Achieves staffing objectives by interviewing and evaluating candidates. Assists with facilitation of new hire orientation, daily department operations and special projects. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Assists the efforts of the Human Resources department to carry out the mission and values of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment, Hiring and Placement

  • Responsible for the oversight of external agency recruitment efforts including attending job fairs and community events & maintains professional relationships with recruitment sources
  • Develops recruitment objectives by assessing current job openings to prioritize greatest need; communicates with program management to discuss specific needs
  • Creates and maintains an annual plan for recruitment advertising/marketing including print, online sites and social media
  • Participates in interviewing, screening and reference checks for potential employees
  • Collaborates with Program Managers to ensure new employee has a smooth transition to primary site/service
  • Facilitates the coordination of new employee orientation
  • Coordinates and tracks training hours of all employees to ensure mandatory training requirements are met and all employees are in compliance of all regulations
  • Helps to maintain personnel files including overseeing employee reminders for licensing and waiver compliance with physical, Mantoux’s, etc.

Training Coordination

 

Staff Administration

  • Provides general information and explains routine personnel policies and procedures to current employees, and/or refers callers to the Director of Human Resources, as appropriate
  • Maintains a monthly status report of new hires, terminations, employee compliance requirements, overtime and other relevant employee data
  • Coordinates worker’s compensation: verifies and compiles employee data for workers compensation; coordinates workers compensation information with workers compensation insurer; processes initial injury report and maintains communications with employee. Acts as a liaison between the department of Human Resources and the safety committee
  • Distributes staff performance evaluation reports to supervisory staff timely and tracks completion of evaluations
  • Helps to ensure overall compliance for state licensing, provider monitoring, qualification and other regulatory entities
  • May serve as back up for general office duties as needed

 

Assist the Director of Human Resources

  • Assists the CEO or Directors with specific, higher level human resources issues if the Director of Human Resources is not available
  • Additional special human resources related projects as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources, or related field; minimum of three years’ experience in human resources
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Act 34 clearance & FBI clearance

 

 

SKILLS

  • Strong PC skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Effective communication, verbal and written, with all levels of agency
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must be organized, set priorities, meet deadlines and be detail oriented
  • Ability to be proficient in coordinating multiple tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information in compliance with federal, state, county laws and regulations
