Overall objective

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and working closely with senior HR Management.

This position carries out responsibilities in support of the following functional areas: Benefits/Compensation administration, Employee Relations, Training, Performance Management, Onboarding, Policy Implementation, Recruitment/Selection and Employment Law Compliance.


Essential Functions


Provides recruitment and selection services.  Advises hiring manager(s) on position and talent requirements.  Recruits, interviews, and screens based on organizational and job responsibility fit.  Proactively sources. Conducts exit interviews, builds company-wide metrics, and advises leadership on trends and strategies.


Serves as a first point of HR contact to employees, and consults with employees on any employee relations issues.  Advises and supports employees in working through issues with their co-workers and/or managers as appropriate. 


Manages escalated employment issues. Conducts fact-finding processes, evaluates for risk and in accordance with core values, and advises appropriate actions. 


Supports and/or participates in organizational development projects and initiatives.  Works collaboratively to build or manage tools and/or training that creates greater efficiency and effectiveness for the organization.  Identifies, creates, and/or adapts processes within HR for optimal effectiveness and efficiency.


Administers various human resource policies and procedures; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.


Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.


Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.


Facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.


Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.


Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.


Performs benefits administration and communicates benefit information to employees.


Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.


Partners with Unemployment Claims Vendor on all unemployment claims.


Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.


Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.




Analyzes hiring and turnover data; creates HR Metric Powerpoint presentations for Board and Committee meetings.




Other responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum knowledge/skills

Language, reasoning, and analytical skills at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, HR and Recruiting systems.

Strong writing skills, including the ability to write procedures and training materials
