POSITION SUMMARY:The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for weekly payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and administering the Club’s benefit programs including health, retirement, and other benefits. This position also administers new hire orientations, workers compensation, employee engagement, and all employee relation issues.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Administers and maintains the payroll system, including processing all new hires, merit increases, status changes and termination paperwork
  • Processes weekly payroll, ensuring accurate payments and applicable withholdings
  • Prepares labor and staffing reports as necessary to assist managers with labor management; assists in the preparation of annual wage and benefit budgets
  • Manages time and attendance and payroll software; troubleshoots issues with software providers
  • Provides new hire orientation for all new employees, ensuring all applicable forms are completed in accordance with federal and state requirements; provides general property orientation and Club information for new employees; assists in the coordination of department orientations
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and organized employee personnel files
  • Assists department heads in recruiting; develops and places recruitment ads; plans recruitment strategies; assists in screening applicants, reference verification, scheduling interviews and making hiring recommendations
  • Assists with implementing, maintaining and updating job descriptions
  • Assists department heads in employee performance management, including annual performance reviews and performance improvement plans
  • Oversees employee relationship management, assists in investigations, meetings, and proper documentation
  • Administers the Club’s group insurance and retirement benefits, communicates eligibility requirements and plan information to staff and provides assistance as necessary; reconciles monthly benefit invoices for accuracy of billings and withholdings
  • Administers all unemployment claims and work-related injury claims including accident investigation and documentation, provides on-going case management, and reporting compliance; maintains OSHA logs and reports for required for reporting
  • Assists in the coordination of risk management and safety programs; serves on the Club’s safety committee
  • Assists with all year-end reporting and regulatory compliance reporting, including payroll filings, ACA filings, EEOC, OSHA, and 401K required reporting.
  • Oversees all company-employee communications, including the coordination and publication of an employee newsletter, and maintenance of employee bulletin boards
  • Organizes employee recognition functions and employee engagement activities; assists in the development of employee motivation and retention programs
  • Assists in the development and implementation of applicable policies and procedures, including training programs for management and staff
  • Maintains Club’s organizational charts and eligible drivers report for Club vehicles
  • Conducts labor analysis and benchmarking within club industry, and other studies as necessary; explores new strategies as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, advises club management as necessary

 MARGIANAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with administrative office duties, including answering phones.
  2. Assist administrative team on various projects, as necessary
  3. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Finance

Requirements

INTELLECTUAL DEMANDS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of previous payroll and human resource experience preferred. Basic business and accounting knowledge a plus.
  • Strong computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Familiarity with ADP (or other equivalent software program) required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in both English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible and responsive; able to exercise good time management skills
  • Detail oriented, with good judgement and sound decision-making skills
  • Maintains a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Pursuing professional certification preferred (SHRM-CP)

 ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Most work is performed indoors, at a desk, in an office environment.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Excessive sitting for long periods of time
  • Occasional standing, bending, and kneeling, and lifting of up to 40 pounds
