Human Resources Generalist

Under the general supervision of the Township Supervisor, reviews and administers personnel policies, negotiates labor contracts, and manages all human resources functions. Responsible for the coordination of risk management activities, and the oversight of workers compensation and benefit issues.

 

Requirements

The job requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree public or business administration, finance, human resources management, or a similar degree. Three to five years of professional experience such as human resource management is required.


Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices benefit administration, personnel management, recruitment, compensation administration and employee/labor relations. Extensive knowledge and understanding of applicable policies, laws and ordinances pertaining to the human resources management activities of the Township. Intermediate level proficiency with general office equipment, related business software such as email, Microsoft Office suite, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Experience with BS&A is preferred. Verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in writing, in person, by phone. Must have effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts orally and in writing, and make presentations in public forums. Mental ability to critically assess situations and solve problems, and work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and changes in work priorities. Ability to perform required duties with considerable independence and minimal supervision. Ability to establish effective work relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness, when dealing with department heads, elected officials, employees, labor union representatives, and professional contacts. Ability to meet the scheduling requirements of the department by attending conferences, seminars and Board meeting which may require working some nights and travel to other cities or states. Physical ability to occasionally sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, work at a counter when assisting the general public and lift boxes of files up to 25 pounds.
