Perform complex tasks in the Human Resources Department. Work involves providing generalist support for a broad range of Human Resources activities which may include recruiting, hiring, compensation, position classification, benefits, employee relations, wellness, worker's compensation and unemployment compensation management, and third party accident insurance coordination. Nature of work is sensitive and highly confidential.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not directly supervise other employees.

Update, monitor and maintain eligible salary adjustments/step increases based on performance evaluations.

Distribute and monitor employee performance evaluations and ensure they are done in a timely manner.

Develop and maintain wage surveys. Assist in conducting job classification recommendations, job audit and market studies, and compensation surveys. Will collect market data for pay plan comparisons and placement.

Process and track FMLA/ADA and Workers Compensation requests and coordinate with vendor FMLA/ADA/Workers Compensation requests.


Assist with recruitment tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews). Coordinate duties related to the posting of open positions, updating job announcements, and posting. May review applications and resumes and select highest qualified applicants to be interviewed.

File EEO-1 report; and maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

Complete job separation inquiries for unemployment claims.

Represent the company for unemployment claims.

Coordinate and direct completion of complex human resources related projects.

Assist with emergency communications

Advise and provide guidance on interpreting County policies and procedures, pay plan and benefits administration, and applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Assist with the review and processes of personnel actions. This includes new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, salary adjustments, and other personnel actions. Ensure conformance with County policies and procedures and assists in maintaining the integrity of the County's pay system.

Assist with determining professional development and training needs of departments.

Assist the department in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all company employees.

Research and answer routine and complex inquiries from managers, employees, citizens and other agencies and organizations.

Maintain organization charts for departments.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Required work experience:
Three years Human Resources related experience.

Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret Personnel policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and professional or technical journals. Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written form. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within and outside the County. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations and before employee groups.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to use common sense to interpret, understand and carry out instructions. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to lead projects and facilitate committees. Ability to work with complex employee relations situations using well-developed conflict resolution skills. Ability to set priorities and organize work. Considerable knowledge of business and personnel practices and procedures. Proficient level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to maintain confidential information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in a typical office environment and at various locations throughout the county.
