Age of Learning Inc. is looking for a HR Generalist who has strong business and HR acumen and knows how to achieve results that make a real impact within the company.  You will be required to utilize your problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.  You will be a key member of the team that structures Age of Learning’s HR center of excellence.  This role is instrumental in guiding employees and managers on Age of Learning policies and procedures, while leading the HR team as it grows into a true strategic partner in all HR functional areas.

  1. Have you been a true HR Generalist for at least 2 years?
  2. Do you have hands on experience working within an HRIS? Can you articulate workflows and create reports?
  3. Have you been involved in performance management beyond simply coordinating the process?
  4. Are you fully capable of administering benefits to include vendor management, 401(k) administration, and capable of overseeing the filing of 5500s?
  5. Are you comfortable with ambiguity and able to think outside the box?

A Can-Do Attitude as you:

  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures that will result in continual improvements in efficiency of the HR department and its services.
  • Oversee the maintenance, auditing and validation of data within HR systems by: compiling reports from the database; conducting periodic HRIS audits; and working with the HR leadership team to ensure data integrity.
  • Create, generate, and maintain effective HR reporting, including turnover, headcount, and other key HR metrics to drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to understand our employee needs and balance with company strategies to deliver robust and competitive benefits.
  • Lead the benefit administration function to include vendor management and concise communication of benefit plans.
  • Assist the HR Operations Manager with evaluation of health plans and working with broker to obtain new plan bids during renewals.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Facilitate and assist in the continuous effort to enhance the onboarding process and new hire experience. Co-facilitate new hire orientations and onboarding program events.
  • Streamline the offboarding process. Conduct exit interviews and exit analyses to provide themes that can be used to improve the employee experience.
  • Lead leave of absence administration to ensure compliance with leave laws and mitigate risk.
  • Lead the safety program and trainings which include: conducting Emergency Response Team (ERT) meetings, organizing annual building evacuation drills, and administering safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain HR metrics: analyze business data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve employee engagement, performance, compensation, and retention.
  • Provide general HR services as needed to include and not limited to: verification of employment requests; drafting employee separation paperwork; compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment; and collaborate with Finance on any payroll, promotions, adjustments, time off, direct deposit updates, etc.
  • Handle ad hoc projects as needs arise.

At a minimum we require that you have:

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to demonstrate and handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently. Must be willing to take initiative
  • The desire to learn and go “above and beyond” is an absolute must!
  • Understanding of, and ability to apply, established HR practices and procedures
  • Understanding of, and ability to apply, federal, state and local employment laws
  • A proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and decision making skills
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to facilitate light training courses
  • Four-year college degree or relevant Human Resources experience
  • 2-5 years in HR Generalist position

You will have an edge if you have:

  • Human Resources Certification (SPHR/PHR)
  • Experience analyzing compensation data and developing compensation structures
  • Basic Organization Development skills
