Provides generalist HR support with primary responsibility for recruiting and staffing, employee relations activities, coaching and counseling staff, disseminating HR information and ensuring HR related concerns or opportunities are shared with HR management for resolution.  Coordinates or delivers leadership, supervisory and HR-related training and participates in development, improvement, and implementation of HR programs and HR documentation.  Position may be located at Rawhide or Headquarters locations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with hiring managers to develop recruiting plans and execute recruiting/sourcing strategies
  • Establishes and leads the sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection processes to ensure quality hires.  Ensures staffing processes meet legal requirements including updating of job descriptions and position requirement
  • Conducts or oversees necessary background checks, reference checks, and other pre-employment processes
  • Ensures candidates and PRPA staff involved in the hiring process are kept informed of process status
  • May maintain the CIP awareness and qualification processes
  • Maintains a visible presence, responds to information requests which may include searching for answers with appropriate staff, and shares HR-related information as required with HR and line leadership
  • Provides advice to staff and management either individually or after seeking consultation with HR management on approaches to employee performance improvement or other employee relations
    issues. Advises management on areas for improvement of HR services and assists
    with resolution
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures and stays up to date on changes to HR legal issues affecting the organization
  • May coordinate and/or deliver HR related training events and programs
  • Participates in development, improvement and implementation of HR related in programs in areas such as onboarding, policy development, supervisory and leadership development, succession planning, performance management etc.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance
  • Assists other members of the Human Resources team when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in HR Generalist role outside of Platte River or 1 year inside responsible for employee recruiting and selection processes and HR systems Administration (i.e. system set up and modifications) of Learning Management Systems, Applicant tracking, or similar HR systems
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community, and with vendors
  • Strong computer skills and proficient with MS Office tools
  • Working knowledge of LMS functionality, data access, system utilization, interrelationships of various systems, and reporting requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining a big picture perspective
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently; must be a self-starter with a proactive working style
  • Strong organization skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River’s vehicle liability policy 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience facilitating process refinement, researching content
    sources, and best practices
  • Experience creating and maintaining electronic employee records and files
  • Experience working in the utility industry with an understanding of the related technical positions
