The Human Resources Generalist joins a team of dedicated HR Professionals. This position will oversee management of the HRIS system and employment records, and serves as benefit administrator. This position will also work in a general HR capacity to assist with leave management, safety, and employee relations and talent management. Together our team will provide a high level of service and create an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.


  • Maintains HRIS electronic and paper files for all employees, students, travelers, volunteers and contractors.
  • Completes accurate employment paperwork and maintains employee records, including creation and management of all paperwork for employee files including checklists, PAF’s, onboarding, correspondence, work orders, etc.
  • Maintains effective communication regarding new hires, employment changes and terminated employees within the organization.
  • Works with the HR team to ensure a smooth onboarding and employment process for candidates, new hires, and existing employees.
  • Creates badges and grants access for MRH employees/students/travelers/volunteers/contractors, including work orders for electronic and badge access as needed.
  • Manages benefit enrollment process for MRH staff, including new enrollments, qualifying events, and terminations. Ensure all enrollments are completed on time and processed correctly. Notify appropriate vendors and maintain accurate records as needed.
  • Serves as a direct liaison between employees and health/dental/vision insurance companies to ensure a smooth process for employees to gain information or resolve conflicts.
  • Oversees benefit administration for all employees, review plans, manage benefits, and recommends changes as needed.
  • Maintains up-to-date, accurate and complete employment files at all times to include: employee application, relevant testing, background checks, drug screens, job descriptions, competencies, licensures, certifications, commendations, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, etc. This may include personnel, RHC, medical, and education files, or other files as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain up to date files for students/volunteers/locums/vendors, etc. 
  • Monitors employment eligibility status via E-verify and maintains compliance with accurate records.
  • Coordinates and presents new employee orientation in partnership with the HR Team for both HR and Hospital Orientations.
  • Manages employee licensure tracking and compliance.
  • Processes paperwork and changes for employees including: annual merit increases, special market increases and annual structure adjustments. Validates for policy compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversees compensation structure for employees, and reviews/recommends updates as needed in partnership with Director of Human Resources.
  • Manages unemployment claims for Memorial Regional Health as needed with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manages Worker’s Compensation Insurance and safety program for Memorial Regional Health with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manages leaves including ADA and FMLA leave for employees with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manages monthly random drug screening program with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Oversees Performance Management and annual performance appraisal process with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manages Employee Relations issues for the organization, including direct employee coaching and management training, with support from the Director of Human Resources and the HR team.
  • Serves as back-up for other team members in the HR Department when needed.
  • Maintains effective communication and good working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Projects excellent customer relations in all interactions.
  • Provides clerical support for the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resources Department.
  • Participates in special projects as requested by Director of Human Resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.





  • High School Diploma required.
  • Post high school education in a Business or Human Resources profession is desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Human Resources Certification PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Valid Current Driver’s License.


Knowledge Required:

  • Working knowledge of HR best practices preferred.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare preferred.
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal employment regulations preferred.


Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two year of previous Human Resources experience required. Healthcare Human Resources Preferred.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Mastery of English language use including grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Familiarity and understanding of all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in application of relevant local, state and federal ordinances, laws, rules and regulations to include FMLA, Workman’s Compensation, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, etc.
  • Excellent record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, records management techniques and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity and the ability to work through challenging situations with a calm, professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking skills to solve problems or accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and resolve office administrative situations and problems in a calm, professional and pleasant manor.
  • Understanding of and ability to explain MRH’s benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability, life insurance, 401 and 457 retirement plans and other benefits or perks offered to employees.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors and patients.
  • Ability to draft correspondence accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions giving close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple concurrent projects.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Work is performed a fast-paced environment with a high level of activity and frequent interruptions and multiple competing demands. Work may continue beyond normal office hours. Occasional travel to departments within the facility may be required, or between campuses. Some regional or national travel is an expectation as this position may serve on regional or state level boards and associations as a representative of MRH.
