About Us

Palisades Eye Surgery Center (PESC) is currently seeking a Part Time Human Resources Generalist to join our close-knit and diverse team of professionals. Our state of the art, fast-paced, high volume outpatient surgery center has three operating room suites and two procedure rooms focusing on various components of Ophthalmic surgery. Our center is located in the heart of Bethesda, close to numerous restaurants, shops, and public transportation. PESC is committed to providing safe and efficient quality care to all of our patients and their families.

Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative, payroll, and general support for the office and clinical staff. This position is responsible for a variety of HR related processes, communications, reporting and analysis concentrated in the following functional areas; HR Administration, Payroll, Recruitment, Onboarding, Employee Relations and Benefits Administration. The Human Resources Generalist strives to uphold and promote the values of Palisades Eye Surgery Center in all aspects of their work.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Recruit for all open positions
  • Consult with management to discuss hiring needs, both current and future
  • Post all jobs to online job boards and determine need for paid posting (Indeed)
  • Conduct phone screens with potential candidates and set up in person interviews as needed
  • Manage candidates applying to postings
  • Create and distribute offer letters
  • Perform reference checks
  • Initiate onboarding process via HRIS (Namely); Review all new hire paperwork once completed
  • Finish full employee profile in HRIS
  • Prepare and send new hire and 401k welcome email to new employees
  • Meet with new hires on their first day for office and system training and PESC required paperwork
  • Track new hire progress and remind manager and employee when 90th day is approaching

Employee Relations:

  • Respond to employee requests, questions, concerns regarding various topics such as benefits, pay, policies, etc.
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding process
  • Spearhead disciplinary discussions providing advice to management; Deliver warnings and performance improvement plans as needed
  • Assist management with annual and 90 day employee reviews
  • Attentive at all times to employee morale; Create unique ways to reward and incentivize employees

Benefits:

  • Meet individually to review and explain all benefit options with new hires around their 90th day with PESC
  • Manage benefit broker relationship
  • Assist employees with benefit issues and/or carrier complaints and escalate as needed
  • Audit benefits monthly in carrier system against information in HRIS
  • Manage benefits invoices monthly and coordinate these with Accounting
  • Update PESC benefit package annually, as needed, based on vendor rate changes, employee growth and overall satisfaction

HR Administration:

  • Manage HRIS in all aspects such as: keep employee data up to date, train employees if changes are made to the system, helping employees with password resets or difficulty using system, etc.
  • Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to: creating personnel and credential files, filing additional paperwork and completing government or external request forms
  • Coordinate and facilitate training or team building programs for PESC staff, often in partnership with the management team
  • Respond to unemployment requests, employment verifications and other external HR related requests
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed; Offer assistance to office personnel as time permits

Payroll:

  • Ensure all payroll related data is up to date for each employee prior to each payroll run
  • Provide tracking spreadsheet to Accounting each pay period with changes and adjustments made to employee data that has a payroll impact such as: salary and benefit changes, new hires, terminations, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained before entering payroll information
  • Initiate and help to process bi-weekly payroll according to established schedule, provide audit data and reports to Accounting
  • Review payroll register before approving payroll run

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of high volume HR or payroll experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS; Experience with Namely a plus
  • Proficiency with online recruiting tools (Indeed)
  • Polished and professional with a self starting personality and attitude
  • Adaptable to constant change
  • Highly organized and very detail oriented
