Human Resources Generalist

Government contracting firm looking to add to their leadership team in the Arlington, VA. This HR leader will plan, organize and directs all aspects of the human resources. This person will be hands on with an ability to think strategically and work with all levels of an organization.   • Establish recruiting requirements and utilize internal applicant tracking software to manage the recruiting process, working with hiring managers, etc
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees, managers, and administration regarding all areas of position development, recruitment and retention; counseling, disciplining and termination; performance appraisals; benefit and compensation issues; policy interpretation; compliance to legal and regulatory agencies to minimize legal and financial exposures to risk from human resource issues, and employee health related issues
  • Design and implement programs/processes that create positive conditions for employees and increase their motivation and commitment to overall success of Company
  • Identify opportunities, problems or potential problems and then assists in developing company-wide systems, procedures and policies for the most effective and beneficial development and utilization of its human resources
  • Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
  • Responsible for new hire orientation, compensation, risk management. Onboard new employees and maintain all employee records in compliance with state and federal regulations and policies and procedures
  • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program as needed
  • Project lead as it relates to process improvements, technology, creating new company programs
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.


  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field
  • At least 3 years HR management/supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of key functional areas to include: Employee Relations, Compensation, Employee Benefits, Organization Development, Education and Training, Recognition and Retention, in addition to generalist experience
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and confidentially
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills with ability to manage in an environment with very diverse perspectives and needs
  • Desire to be a part of a team with a willingness to roll up sleeves and help where needed
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state, labor and employment laws and regulations
