About this Job Opportunity:

Strategic Management Services is searching for an experienced, skilled and highly energetic Human Resources professional to join our firm. The Human Resources Generalist will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will manage and execute all aspects of Human Resources strategy, practices, policies and processes. The role requires a combination of tactical and strategic expertise and the ability to switch gears between a widely diverse set of duties.

The ideal candidate will be results-focused, accountable, motivated, highly organized and comfortable being an HR department of one.

Essential Functions:

  • Working collaboratively to contribute to the organizational HR strategy and drive the culture to support growth and profitability goals.
  • As part of a small organization, providing hands-on support to employees through recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration.
  • Providing pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice to members of the management team on all HR related matters including disciplinary and performance issues.
  • Identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse HR issues, recommending appropriate action plans, and influencing managers and business leaders accordingly.
  • Bringing best practice and expertise-driven perspectives to strategic and operational business discussions and people management decision-making.
  • Administering employee benefits and serving as a liaison to benefit providers.
  • Managing all HR policies and procedures of the organization and providing coaching to employees on difficult and complex issues.
  • Reviewing and revising HR policies and practices to remain in compliance with changing or new legislation, development and implementation of HR policies, benefits, employment contracts and compensation.
  • Managing the recruitment, selection and onboarding process.
  • Working with managers, oversee the implementation of training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining of staff to minimize legal risk around people issues and support business objectives.
  • Managing the employee performance feedback and review process.
  • Collaborating with managers to identify development opportunities for key talent across the organization.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications:

This position requires a proactive, independent individual with strong leadership and communication skills and be ability to function in a dynamic environment. The drive and determination to lead Human Resources initiatives is a must.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of HR and business experience. Business acumen is as important as HR knowledge to be successful in this position.
  • Must possess "consulting skills" and be viewed as professional and knowledgeable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated excellence in previous HR/Business endeavors.
  • Professional HR Certification is strongly desired (PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP).
  • HR and business operations experience supporting small to mid-size organizations.
