The Director, CARE Business and Recruiting Partners (Human Resources Director) plays a key role in assisting with the oversight of POET’s CARE team and supporting the strategies and initiatives associated with POET’s overarching PEOPLE strategy. This person has a comprehensive understanding of all areas that typically fall under the Human Resources responsibility and is required to have strong strategic agility, unquestionable character, and integrity. As an integral part of the CARE Team, this person provides operational and strategic input to key business leaders across POET and is viewed as a trusted partner with strong analytic reasoning, business acumen, collaborative and influencing skills.  This person leads the CARE Business and Recruiting partner teams and has substantial leadership experience. The Director, CARE Business and Recruiting Partners reports to the Senior Vice President of CARE and plays a key role in driving the importance of people and culture at POET.




  • Promoting POET’s company culture and partner with leaders to ensure the desired culture exists across the enterprise.
  • Engaging with executive and senior leaders on key people and business strategies and initiatives in alignment with POET’s strategy roadmap:  People, Value Creation, and Leadership.
  • Developing meaningful cross-functional relationships with leaders and team members. Understand their lines of business and collaborate on actionable items to address gaps and priorities.
  • Leading the CARE Business and Recruiting Business Partner teams in their endeavor to support, influence and shape POET’s people strategies. Providing coaching and leadership via POET Connection meetings relating to performance, project/initiative management, career aspirations, and development opportunities
  • Facilitating 360 assessments across POET. Advising and consulting leaders and team members on development strategies.
  • Leading work relating to compensation planning. Conducting compensation analysis for business functions and providing recommendations as warranted. Partnering with Payroll to ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Partnering with the Benefits team to stay abreast of benefit strategies. Participating in vendor meetings and benefit reviews.  Providing recommendations for enhancement.
  • Collaborating with the Learning and Development team to enhance leadership capabilities, implement change, team building, team member development, and culture initiatives.
  • Participating in review of company policies and providing recommendations as warranted; ensuring legal compliance and alignment with POET culture.
  • Staying current on all pertinent federal, state, and case law changes and monitoring labor law updates impacting POET.
  • Leading talent acquisition efforts as needed for CARE Business and Recruiting Partner team members. Ensuring optimal onboarding for new team members.
  • Maintaining a team environment at all times and championing POET in the community.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in the area of Human Resources Management, Psychology, or Business
  • 8+ years of experience in a Senior Human Resources position is required along with strong business acumen, demonstrated business partnering ability and strategic agility relating to workforce planning, linking business and workforce strategies as well as leading large scale change management initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment law, talent acquisition, change management, organizational development, compensation planning, employee relations, talent and succession planning, and team development. Labor relations preferred.
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality in the organization.
  • Excellent influencing and coaching skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and/or written form.
  • Highly organized with superb time management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage workload and complete projects within expected time frame.
  • Skilled at exercising independent judgment when making decisions and/or recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Effectively address conflict and provide feedback/coaching in a professional manner to leaders and/or direct reports when applicable.
  • Ability to analyze and assess performance and identify training and development needs.
  • 360 Assessment Certification preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of HRIS used in HR applications.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

  • This position operates in an office environment. 
  • Travel with some overnight stays is required, up to 25%.
