POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources primary duty is the management of an Office of the Authority. The Director of Human Resources will direct, implement, communicate and administer the Authority's Human Resources (HR) functions. The Human Resources Director will direct all activities and staff in the following areas: Compensation, Employee Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Occupational Medical Services and Wellness, and Retirement Benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops and oversees implementation of long and short-range strategies for the Office of Human Resources.
  • Directs the design, implementation, communication, and administration of the Authority’s Human Resources programs in the areas of compensation, talent acquisition, employee benefits, human resources information systems (HRIS), occupational medical services and wellness, and retirement benefits.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and maintenance of the operating budget for the Office of Human Resources.
  • Directly and/or indirectly supervises managers, professional, and administrative employees assigned to the Office of Human Resources.
  • Interviews, hires and develops subordinate personnel.
  • Sets standards and evaluates the performance of employees.
  • Provides feedback, coaches, disciplines, and discharges as appropriate.
  • Take every reasonable precaution given the circumstances to ensure the protection of employees, patrons, and members of the public.
  • Identify and inform employees of hazards in the workplace and ensures that employees follow procedures.
  • Determines safe work methods and ensures that employees are notified of new and modified methods
  • Responds to health and safety concerns of employees in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. One or more of the following certifications is preferred: Human Resources certification (i.e. PHR, SPHR, CCP, CBP, CEBS) desired.
  • Ten years of professional level experience in human resources.
  • Four years of experience at the managerial level successfully managing programs in one or more areas of human resources.
  • Experience with human resources information systems (HRIS) is desirable.
