Arbor Biosciences is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chiral Technologies, Inc.  As a fast growing development and manufacturing company, we provide the genetics, cytogenetics and synthetic biology communities with cost effective research tools to meet their unique applications.  

Our growth has created an exciting opportunity for an individual to provide HR consultative and administrative support to all levels within the organization as a Part-Time independent contractor. The position will report directly to the President of Arbor Biosciences and will be located in our Ann Arbor, Michigan facility. Our ideal candidate will be committed to recruiting top talent and providing our staff members with an exceptional work experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide guidance and input to management on workforce planning and succession planning
  • Manage all phases of the talent acquisition process, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding.
  • Consult with and provide advice to management and staff on all human resources topics on a day to day basis.
  • Manage compensation practices
  • Develop and implement training programs
  • Performance Management, including monitoring the content of reviews to identify key trends or issues to be addressed
  • Provide employee relations support, including conflict resolution
  • Develop, communicate and interpret human resources policies and procedures, and ensure consistency in administration of the policies, as well as compliance with state and federal laws and changing business needs
  • Ensure compliance with parent company compliance programs
  • Other special projects as requested by the President


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • B.S. in HR or a business related subject
  • PHR/SPHR Certification and/or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Experience in a management role in HR, preferably in a life science environment
  • Ability to engage in strategic decision making and proactively assess effect on business
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking ability
  • Excellent presentation and persuasion skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong relationship building and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated advising and coaching skills
  • Ability to independently handle multiple and shifting priorities
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, drive projects to completion and manage the results
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
