MAJOR PURPOSE:

 

The Human Resources Business Partner – Technology Focus is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management at Major League Baseball on the Technology side. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource - related issues, seeks to develop integrated solutions, and formulates partnerships across the HR function o deliver value-added service to employees that reflect the Technology objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business and technology literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Serve as a primary relationship owner and principal consultant for MLB leaders and employees by strategically and proactively recommending and implementing Human Resources solutions that address business issues

  • Proactively consult with client group(s)on the design and implementation of effective organizational structures to help clients deliver on business objectives

  • Guide clients through people-related matters to navigate change and support them in coaching, providing feedback, and managing performance

  • Proactively share client technology knowledge and successfully partner with HR functions including Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Compensation, etc. to advance the league’s business strategies

  • Identify solutions to workplace issues or concerns by collecting/analyzing data and relying on personal observation

  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR subject matter experts to develop solutions, programs and policies

  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning

  • Proactively identify the need for improvements to MLB’s policies and work environment

  • Act as an employee champion and change agent

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, Communications, Psychology or general business preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of HR experience, focused in the technology partner, talent partner or other HR functional areas
  • Successful demonstration of relationship building, and ability to influence decision making
  • Ability to effectively implement the role of a “consultant” 
  • Strong business acumen and excellent Human Resources knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills(verbal and written)and interpersonal skills(approachable and engaging)
  • Executive presence including candor and clarity in conveying messages
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills to resolve issues and concerns
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Working knowledge of employment and labor law
  • AbilitytoanticipatetheneedsofthebusinessandproactivelyprovidenecessaryHRsolutions
  • Maintains high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time
