ABB Power Grids High Voltage (PGHV) North America (NAM) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to assess and anticipate HR-related needs of the local business unit. This position will be a member of the PGHV NAM leadership team, a proactive consultant to business leaders and will be directly responsible for the day-to-day HRBP responsibilities within the US. Additionally, as the NAM HRBP, the position will work proactively with HR partners in Canada and Mexico to align PGHV as a North America organization, translating the business imperatives into HR Strategy.

The HRBP will partner with business leaders to develop drive talent outcomes and implement business people strategies; Support business goals and initiatives by ensuring relevant people capabilities and organizational effectiveness in close collaboration with the HR network; Counsel and coach business leaders on organization issues and advise on solutions; Represent business needs in interfacing with HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Global Business Services (GBS). This position is a hands-on position, directly supporting the organization.

With 450+ employees in our High Voltage NAM business and multiple US plants/locations, as well as facilities in Canada and MX, it represents a strategic piece of our market strategy. The HRBP role is critical to ensure we continue to develop our talent in line with business priorities, focusing on the future and continual learning.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Strategy leadership - Set and implement people strategy in the High Voltage NAM organization in line with ABB global division, global BU High Voltage and global HR function strategy, including culture, competence, and organization.
•Capability Planning - Ensure people and organization capabilities required in the mid-long term / Workforce Planning are understood and actioned ensuring that the business and organizational positons in the short term are adequately staffed to meet or exceed the annual business targets.
•Organization Design - Design and implement organization structure and principles in line with group and global rules and standards; Develop high performing teams, including organization restructuring, optimal utilization, redeployment and right-sizing of people resources.
•Performance Management - Build performance culture in the organization; Implement group and global business performance standards, KPIs, and targets to enhance business performance; Identify performance issues and take actions to address them in close collaboration with Location HRBP and CoE; Recognize and reward high performance in individuals and teams.
•Competence Development - Decide on competence actions to support business strategy; Implement learning and development activities to build and improve competence in collaboration with CoE and SSC.
•Talent Management - In close collaboration with Talent Partners in the CoE, set and implement stragies and actions to ensure a healthy and sustainable talent structure in the organization, including recruitment, identification and succession planning on business critical position, diversity and inclusion; Assess risks and coordinate actions to mitigate risks.
•Remuneration Competitiveness and Personnel Cost - Decide competitiveness position and compensation elements based on business need and in line with group and global strategy and policy; Monitor personnel cost development in the business and take corrective actions when needed.
•Change Management - Decide on change management need to support business strategy and plan; Implement necessary measures and actions to facilitate change, including communication, reorganization, performance management, motivation, recognition.
•M&A and Reorganization - Under the leadership of global division and/or BU, Implement strategy, policy and plans in line with group rules and standards to ensure business benefit and continuity, including due diligence, integrating, communication, change management, retention and motivation, leadership appointment
•Safety & Integrity - Implement HSE and business compliance standards and regulations in the area of responsibility. Personally live the ABB values and Group standards,
•Standards and governance - Implement and ensure compliance with global and local standards, rules, tools, policies and processes related to operations/project execution and share functional best practices and lessons learned across the organization.
•People leadership and development - Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed. Build an effective, capable and high performing team. Develop talent.
•Labor Relations - Partner with managers, union representatives and employees to understand current issues that can be supported or resolve through HR practices, processes, or policies Leads discussions an owns the relationship with local collective bargaining and information / consultation groups where applicable (e.g. works councils, trade unions, employee committees). Manage resolution of labor relations crises which impact at a local level, ensuring necessary flow of information to all stakeholders. Build and manage constructive relationships with both internal and external labor relations stakeholders at a local level, in order to support a culture of mutual beneficial cooperation between HR, line mangers, employees and their representatives.


Basic qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of Human Resource generalist experience including experience in a manufacturing environment OR
•Master’s degree and 10 years Human Resource generalist experience including experience in a manufacturing environment 

Preferred qualifications:
•Experience in working across country lines and operating in a global, multi-national environment. 
•Demonstrated success with organizational change activities.
•Proven success in talent management and building competencies / capabilities at all levels of the facility.
•Labor relations experience in a union environment including labor contract negotiations. 
•Working knowledge of federal laws including employment and labor laws and success with developing core HR polices around both labor and employee relations
•Master’s degree in related field or MBA preferred
•SHRM certification 
•Experience in a matrix organization
