Job Brief

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for matters pertaining to human resources management to include employee relations, employment, development, and compliance with government regulations.  They will administer, recommend and develop human resource policies and practices, which will provide a balanced and consistent program throughout the company and remain in alignment with the business and growth objectives of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. 1.       Develop and administer company Human Resource policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations to ensure fairness and consistency throughout the organization.
  2. 2.       Create and develop training for employees regarding compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  3. 3.       Plan, organize and control activities of the department.  Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  4. 4.       Provide advice and counsel to management and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices.
  5. 5.       Investigate and partner with legal counsel to coordinate company’s response relative to alleged employment violation and complaints. 
  6. 6.       Investigate and respond to local, state, federal agency requests for information. 
  7. 7.       Monitor and support union contract administration to ensure agreements and programs are executed per the contracts.
  8. 8.       Manage human resource vendor relationships while monitoring compliance, execution and development of services provided to the company.
  9. 9.       Conduct investigations in employee relations matters and provide coaching, counseling, training and guidance to managers and employees.
  10. 10.   Monitor leave of absence requests including Family Medical Leave, disability and personal leaves while ensuring compliance under FMLA, ADAA, and other regulations. 
  11. 11.   Lead the development and execution of performance management for employees.
  12. 12.   Develop new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and company.
  13. 13.   Utilize MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point software to create letters, memos, reports and presentations for various projects.
  14. 14.   Attend conferences/webinars to keep current with legislation and best practices in HR.



  1. 1.       Bachelor’s degree required,  SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
  2. 2.       5+ years of HR and management experience required
  3. 3.       Proficient in MS Office products 
  4. 4.       Experience in HRIS and payroll systems required
  5. 5.       Demonstrated knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and general business practices
  6. 6.       Experience with unions is preferred
  7. 7.       Ability to understand projects from a strategic and tactical perspective
  8. 8.       Must be a confident communicator (including written and verbal skills)

Physical Requirements

The job requires extensive sitting, viewing and utilizing computer and phone equipment.  Walking and occasionally lifting 10 to 40 lbs.  Ability to travel via automobile or airplane when necessary.
