This position is responsible for directing, planning, development, implementation, administration and budgeting for most or all of the Human Resources function including but not limited to the following: employment, recruitment, employee relations, EEO, compensation/benefits and organizational development.  Develop and drive creative HR initiatives and activities. Advise company management in Human Resources policy and program matters.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Oversee and manage the Human Resource department. Plan, organize and control all activities in the department.

  • Develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel. Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Implement and annually update compensation programs: conduct annual salary surveys, analyze compensation, and monitor performance evaluation program and revise as necessary.

  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures, preparing and maintaining Employee Handbook.

  • Perform benefit administration to include claims resolution, invoice approval, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness.

  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program: file EEO-1 annually, maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations. This includes Civil Rights compliance and OSHA.

  • Perform administration of unemployment issues including initial response and appeals for all claims.

  • Develop effective responses for worker’s compensation issues, including light duty and return to work programs, along with appropriate documentation and follow up.

  • Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to ensure selection of highly qualified personnel.

  • Establish and maintain department records and reports. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings as needed

  • Continuing human resource and legal education to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.

  • Retention of outside counsel as necessary and appropriate to protect company interests, upon consultation with President regarding the same.

  • Provide advice and assistance to President in the planning implementation and evaluation of modifications to existing operation, systems and procedures.

  • Travel to various site locations (approximately 25-30% of time).

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations and/or related degree(s), with 5+ years of hands on experience in the following:

  • Worker’s Compensation and Safety Programs;

  • Compensation and Benefits;

  • Staff Retention;

  • Unemployment Administration; and

  • Affirmative Action and EEO Policies and Procedures;

Must possess ability to communicate effectively with all company staff.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
