  1. Interpret policies and makes recommendations on policy and procedural changes
  2. Diverse and extensive contact with all level of employees
  3. Maintains optimal employment levels and enhances the quality of work life for employees
  4. Assessment of staffing resources and organizational structure for the purpose of creating training and programs that facilitate effective employee development and meet current and future business needs
  5. Provides direction, leadership and expertise requiring sound judgment and independent decision-making at all levels in the organization
  6. Develop, recommend and implement consistently compliant and efficient human resource management policies and practices
  7. Benefits administration: AL, SL, 401(k), Profit Sharing, Health Insurance (Medical/Dental/Life), Continuing Education allotment, etc.
  8. Organize and implement OSHA standards/training in conjunction with Facility Manager and line supervisors
  9. Document, report and track all employee incidents and/or accidents
  10. Organizes new employee orientation program
  11. Handbook design and revision; update staff accordingly
  12. Advise on disability issues/claims and complete all necessary paperwork; administer FMLA, FLSA, and other such laws
  13. Responsible for recruitment of all positions: executive, professional, paraprofessional and laymen which includes but not limited to the design of compelling career opening advertisements in trade magazine, websites, newspaper; develop relationships with local colleges and veterinary technician schools; attend industry relevant job fairs/conferences, etc.
  14. Provide guidance to supervisors and staff members regarding the application of human resource policies and the implementation of identified services to ensure that appropriate human resource practices are implemented
  15. Insurance negotiations; annual review of cost and best policies available
  16. Strategic planning and forecasting based on established financial budget
  17. Conduct three-phase interview process and coordinate closely with line supervisors
  18. Maintain a strategic perspective while focusing on problem identification, outlining expectations and solving.
  19. Keep NSV competitive by staying abreast of emerging laws and trends through seminars, classes, websites, professional memberships, newsletters, and other professional groups



Education:        BA/BS; SHRM-CP preferred.  Must have 5-7 years experience.


Job environment: 

Multi-task, medium volumes of work, desk on open floor, work various hours to accommodate 24 hour facility; 10% travel required in and out of state
