Position Summary:

The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and reports to the CCO. This position primarily carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, HR-related training, performance management, onboarding and offboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, facilities management and employment law compliance. This position offers an opportunity to build out an HR program.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and maintains the employee handbook and related policies and procedures; administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Participates in developing department goals and objectives.

  • Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  • Performs benefits administration, including serving as liaison with brokers and communicating benefits information to employees.

  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program; and writes and places advertisements. Maintains job descriptions by department.

  • Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.

  • Ensures that company organization charts and the employee directory are maintained and distributed.

  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the various business units; works with senior management on succession planning.

  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations, working with outside counsel where needed.

  • Ensures (and periodically audits) compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification and with ERISA Form 5500 reporting.

  • Reports vacation use to payroll and scheduling.

  • Maintains employee personnel files.

 Desired Skills & Experience:

A qualified candidate should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Human resource experience; experience in the private equity industry preferred but not required

  • Three to five years of experience in human resource generalist role

  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations a plus (not required)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to self-manage projects from the ground floor to completion

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to utilize technology to streamline HR processes
