Human Resource Director

The Human Resources Director will be responsible for the ongoing planning, development, and execution of programs and projects that enhance the recruitment and employment experience of a talented workforce. The HR Director will report to the CDC Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with the COO to execute agreed upon initiatives designed to address performance at both the individual and team levels. This position will support the following initiatives: change management, employee relations, training, performance management, workforce effectiveness/organizational design, individual development planning, recruitment/selection, and compensation.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, providing leadership for the entire employment experience and helping to shape the ongoing evolution of the Foundation’s culture. 

 

 

Requirements

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and executes recruitment plans and organization-wide programs to facilitate employee success and a positive team experience. 
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive team for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on employee matters.
  • Partners with the Foundation’s leadership to create a high performing organization with a focus on employee engagement and team effectiveness.
  • Communicates, advocates and ensures understanding of planned organization strategy and programs to HR business partners.
  • Leads initiatives regarding workforce planning, succession planning, and key talent development.
  • Creates a culture of congruence, collaboration, community, transparency, balance, accountability, and respect/humility.
  • Maintains responsibility for organization’s compliance with federal, state and local legislation and grants pertaining to all personnel matters. 
  • Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures for all of the organization’s offices. 
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable employment laws (including EEO, wage and hour, leaves of absence, safety and health, etc.). 
  • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
  • Serves as a change agent and helps teams/individuals manage the change process.
  • Maintains human resource information system that meets the organization's information needs.
  • Supervises the staff of the human resource team.
  • Participates in meetings and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit diverse pools of candidates through focused outreach and advertising, thoughtful networking, and strong relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach employees and managers in conflict and issue resolution

Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Human Resource Management required
  • SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Ten or more years of progressive leadership in HR
  •  Supervisory experience and a demonstrated ability to develop and lead others
  • Experience with HCM/HRIS/HRMS software and applicant tracking systems
  • Nonprofit or philanthropic organization experience a plus
  • Experience with multi-site or remote staff preferred
