Position: Human Capital Director

Job Purpose:
The Human Capital Director is a new position that serves as a strategic member of the Na Ali’i management team and is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the Na Aliʻi’s business operations, specifically in the areas of talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation.


Job Duties Include: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.


  • Manages a team of 3-5 geographically disbursed human resource professionals
  • Ensures that human resource programs support the long-term goals of leadership
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy regarding Na Ali’i business operations, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management. Identifies trends that could affect organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Mitigates legal risks and ensures regulatory compliance
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with other back-office operations to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to HR and operations staff (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Oversees daily administration of other HR services, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration, affirmative action/EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, benefits and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall company objectives
  • Supports development and maintenance of a Human Resources Dashboard to measure and benchmark the health of our workforce and performance of our human capital processes

Skills/Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, organizational and planning skills, and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer service oriented.


Clearance: This position does not require a security clearance, although it is preferred.

Education and Experience: 10+ years of relevant professional experience. Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree is highly preferred but can be waived with substantial experience; Professional certification is required. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is highly desired.

The following experience is required:

  • Experience with government and DoD contracting environments
  • Substantial experience in managing the full lifecycle of HR operations for a firm in the government contracting industry (benefits administration, EEO compliance, compensation, insurance, etc.)
  • Established track record of working as a critical member of a management team to develop innovative approaches to talent acquisition and retention
  • First-hand experience developing critical HR policies for a growing organization (e.g., compensation models, performance management processes, etc.)
  • Experience managing and coaching other members of a corporate HR workforce
  • Experience navigating various state requirements when working in multiple geographic areas
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government contracts and the ability to recommend solutions that fit within our overall business model
  • Ability to think critically and develop high-quality written documents with little oversight
