Summary/Objective

The HR Manager is responsible for performing specialized and administrative human resource duties in all functional areas. This individual will be a subject matter expert able to provide direction and coaching to both senior and mid-level leadership across the organization.

The successful candidate will be an HR professional capable of handling routine functions, special projects as assigned and the development and implementation of new Policies and Procedures appropriate for a mid-size company which is growing through acquisition/expansion.

Essential Functions

  1. Advises management on the formulation and administration of benefits plans and policies.  Sources benefits in conjunction with third-party administrator.
  2. Coordinates health, life and disability insurance enrollments, reviews for accuracy and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs. 
  3. Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements. Processes personnel action forms and ensures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms.
  4. Ensures compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork as directed; receives and records COBRA insurance premium payments.
  5. Responsible for the development and maintenance of a competitive market compensation analysis.
  6. Analyzes and manipulates data, maintains spreadsheets and provides tactical analysis of reports to recommend new or improved processes/policies to drive business results and employee engagement.
  7. Creates and maintains listing of approved positions along with assigned salary grade levels.
  8. Interviews, screens and recruits job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.
  9. Prepares new-hire paperwork and manages the onboarding process.
  10. Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues.
  11. Develops, revises and implements HR policies and procedures and maintains the employee handbook with updated policies and procedures. 
  12. Ensures compliance with relevant federal, state or local legislation and conducts periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
  13.  Prepares and maintains special internal and external reports and special projects as requested by his or her immediate supervisor.
  14. Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
  15. Facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.
  16. Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  17. Oversees performance management and review process.  Develops new programs and resources to drive employee development and engagement.
  18. Oversees safety program across facilities and handles all worker compensation related activities.
  19. Backup payroll processing responsibilities via payroll vendor ADP

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. PHR, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
  3. HR Admin and development 7 years
  4. Bi-lingual a plus.
