Primary Role: Under the direction of the US HR Director, serves as a generalist for all Human Resources functions in Rockingham, DeWitt, Jane Lew, Fayetteville and Indianapolis. Assures day-to-days HR tasks and processes are executed, partners with Plant management staff, assures proactive culture and employee relations initiatives are occurring according to Latham’s core values and strategy while participating in HR projects and process improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resources Functions:  

  1. 1.       Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
  2. 2.       Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes on ADP and E-Time
  3. 3.       Maintaining I-9s according to federal regulations and conducting I-9 audits
  4. 4.       Partners with Corporate Recruitment & Staffing Specialist on recruiting for all positions, this includes but it is not limited to internal job postings, external advertising, job fairs, open houses, non-profit recruiting, etc. Screening and tracking of applications, and:
    1. a.       Interviewing applicants for open positions in home and remote locations when needed
    2. b.       Reviewing pre-hire documentation to meet company’s requirements for hire
    3. c.        New Hire Orientations
    4. d.       Reviewing new hire documentation for remote employees
  5. 5.       Partners with Corporate Payroll & Benefits Administrator to include:
    1. a.       Informing of insurance enrollment deadlines for all employees at all locations
    2. b.       Overseeing payroll approvals each week.
    3. c.        Managing all payroll related issues including but not limited to pay shortages, overpayments, garnishments, support orders, requests for information, etc.
    4. d.       Processing all pay increases
  6. 6.       Administering the Wage Matrix, partnering with Plant Managers to assure cross-training and appropriate matrix placement
  7. 7.       Creating and updating job descriptions
  8. 8.       Coordinating performance reviews and assisting managers with the process
  9. 9.       Partnering with Plant Management to issue and track attendance and discipline; Administering the perfect attendance policy by tracking and documenting all employees with perfect attendance
  10. 10.    Conducting investigations , documenting appropriately and recommending course of action
  11. 11.    Handling all disciplinary issues, terminations and layoffs
  12. 12.    Completing unemployment documentation and attending hearings as needed
  13. 13.    Helping or organizing company activities and functions
  14. 14.    Reviewing and enforcing Federal and State Law, along with company policies and procedures
  15. 15.    Coaching and training supervisors and managers about policies and procedures and federal and state law
  16. 16.    Coaching and training Office Coordinators/Managers in locations on proper administration of shared HR functions, such as maintaining HR files, recruitment activities, drug screens, accident reporting, benefits enrollment and others
  17. 17.    Administering and managing FMLA claims and other types of leaves (STD, LTD, administrative, personal, etc.)
  18. 18.    Updating all legal posting along with any other plant postings and/or TV communication monitors

Office Administration Functions:

  1. 1.       Partners with HR Assistant to assure the following tasks are completed for locations:
    1. a.       Ordering applications, PCNs and other supplies as needed
    2. b.       Ordering flowers and other appreciation items for employees
    3. c.        Administer the service anniversary and birthday programs

Safety and Workers Comp Functions:

  1. 1.       Developing and maintaining and enforcing safety rules and regulations
  2. 2.       Conducting visual audits and recommending changes
  3. 3.       Maintaining an up-to-date safety and emergency manual
  4. 4.       Participating in the safety committee meetings
  5. 5.       Documenting and reporting all injuries; Maintaining the safety tracking system up to date; Managing and reporting all injuries to Liberty Mutual
  6. 6.       Maintaining all OSHA logs up to date
  7. 7.       Developing and tracking all monthly safety training presentations for all employees

 

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications/Skills:

  1. 1.       Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience at a manager level; HR Certification and Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  2. 2.       Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field; Associates with equivalent experience may be considered
  3. 3.       Previous manufacturing and safety programs highly preferred
  4. 4.       Strong knowledge of employment law, regulations and concepts
  5. 5.       With a high level of interpersonal skills, ability to handle sensitive information and confidential situations while maintaining the utmost in ethical standards
  6. 6.       Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with diplomacy, accuracy and a service-orientation
  7. 7.       Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work; able to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and an inquisitive approach to solving complex or unfamiliar problems
  8. 8.       Strong work ethic; Approachable and responsive – able to develop string working relationships with employees and leaders
  9. 9.       Passion for innovative HR process improvement and efficiency, enabling a deeper focus on organizational development as an HR business partner adept at talent management and retention
  10. 10.    Excellent communication skills required, including being able to hold meetings and perform training in small and large groups - good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
  11. 11.    Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Survey Monkey, Web Ex, Employee Survey software, HRIS and ADP Workforce Now
  12. 12.    Must be available to work 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday, with occasional overtime;  at least 40 hours per week.
  13. 13.    Physical: Ability to (1) stay in a sitting position for most of the working day while looking at a computer monitor; (2) Walk through the plant at least once per day; (3) Open filing cabinets, bend or stand

10.  Travel: Travel to oversight locations 2-3 times annually or as needed; Other travel as required
