Position Summary

Located in Brussels, this position is responsible for Human Resources for staff located in ICANN’s Istanbul, Brussels, Geneva offices and across the EMEA region. In collaboration with the Global HR team, this position will provide local expertise in all HR matters including employee relations, talent acquisition & performance development. The role will also review and make recommendations on the effectiveness of ICANN’s HR programs in the region to ensure that the organization is competitively positioned versus external market practices and is cost effective in line with the organization’s employment philosophy by assessing market trends, best practices, current and pending legislation as well as regulatory requirements that impact human resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with ICANN’s global HR team to ensure local HR initiatives are in line with ICANN strategies and Talent Management strategy.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with assigned client groups to develop first-hand knowledge of the organization and client’s organizational needs and collaborate with the global HR team to provide proactive HR support.
  • Support and advise leadership and employees on interpretation and application of employment laws, employee agreements and HR policies and procedures.
  • In close collaboration with Global Talent Acquisition, lead recruitment for the EMEA region including staff onboarding in terms of orientation program and employment documentation.
  • Partner with Global Compensation to promote and support local compensation and benefits practices for the region.
  • Administer local employee benefits offered and manage the ongoing process improvement of our world-class compensation and benefit offerings.
  • Handle work authorization applications; liaise with immigration providers to ensure work authorizations are valid and promptly renewed in compliance with local legislations.
  • Support performance appraisals and management, career development, staff promotions and relocations.
  • With support from Global L&D, facilitate learning & development programs; assist in analyzing training needs and in developing appropriate interventions.
  • Responsible for employee relations; conduct investigations to respond to employment issues, recommend solutions and assist with problem resolutions.
  • Implement and administer HR policies, programs and procedures in accordance with regional framework, local employment laws and location specific operational priorities in order to maintain alignment of HR practices.
  • Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of HR records required by law and/or local governing bodies, and other departments in the organization.
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures HR policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant.
  • Input to and assist with regional and local HR communications.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across all departments by providing high-quality HR support.
  • Collaborate, partner or lead global or regional HR projects.
  • Support services & facilities in the region in collaboration with Global Administrative Services & Facilities.

Required Skills

  • Must be bilingual in English & French (spoken and written). Ability to converse in Turkish an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR practices, procedures and labor laws related to the EMEA region.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and work autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to persuade, influence and adapt communication style to different situations and individuals
  • Ability to exhibit a “hands-on” and “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multicultural and diverse environment where work can be non-routine and complex.
  • Flexibility in work hours to enable global interactions across time zones, and able to travel when required.
  • Possess strong computer literacy with a high degree of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and web-enabled HR information systems.

Required Experience

  • University Degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of cross-EMEA HR management experience, working on multiple human resource disciplines, such as talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, learning and development, performance management.
  • Experience working for a US-based global organization is preferred
  • Experienced in implementing and developing HR policies, processes and programs in complex multinational matrix organizations.
  • Practiced in supporting staff with diverse cultural backgrounds across all levels of the organization.
