EMC Engineering Services, Inc. is a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm providing services in the Southeastern United States. With eight offices throughout Georgia, EMC is strategically located to provide local planning, surveying, engineering, landscape architecture, and construction phase services.

Human Resource Generalist provides leadership and oversight with respect to the functions of personnel management, recruiting, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, professional development, and employee relations and communications. The Human Resource Generalist works collaboratively with executive staff, division heads, managers, and area supervisors to develop and implement an employee-oriented culture that translates organizational strategic objectives into HR strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

Personnel Management:

  • Ensures regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local agencies for employee relations, recruitment activities and benefits.
  • Consults with legal counsel and insurance brokers as appropriate.
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures, and practices related to personnel matters. Ensures that all human resource related policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws.
  • Coordinates and conducts the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Maintains the human resource information system for employees.
  • Participates in external surveys in all areas of Human Resources. Provides benchmarking data on positions at the organization.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of industry and HR trends, standards and best practices. Stays abreast of applicable human resources regulations and trends; utilizes this knowledge in day-to-day activities.

 Recruiting:

  • Directs all aspects of recruitment activities.
  • Handles job posting for open positions in the organization.
  • Manages on-line reference verifications and other candidate reference follow-ups.
  • Coordinates candidate’s information during the hiring process to provide access to resumes and schedules. 
  • Coordinates with hiring managers on processing candidates.
  • Oversees the staff hiring process in conjunction with the appropriate department heads.
  • Oversees and coordinates the new hire orientation and internship programs. 

 Employee Relations:

  • Drives organizational initiatives such as talent development, employee engagement and learning and development.
  • Consults with legal counsel and insurance brokers as appropriate on employee relation matters.
  • Provides consultancy advice to department heads and area supervisors on employee relations issues.

 Compensation and Benefits Administration:

  • Coordinates salary administration and compensation processes, conducts compensation reviews, provides consulting on compensation processes and structure, and evaluates salaried and hourly jobs.
  • Assists employees with benefits resolutions regarding claims or coverage.
  • Reconciles benefit premiums, runs reports, monitors coverage, audits premium invoices and coordinates with Accounting.
  • Coordinates with the insurance broker on open enrollment and renewals of employee benefits. 
  • Communicates benefit programs and delivers information and materials to employees, including benefit renewals and distribution of open enrollment packages.
  • Collects and maintains benefit related historical documents.
  • Coordinates disability and unemployment procedures; manages employee leaves and worker’s compensation claims.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or Psychology
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive, generalist work experience, with an emphasis and proven track record on talent acquisition and strong knowledge across all HR disciplines.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems. 
  • Excellent organization, time management, and analytic skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed, handle multiple tasks and priorities, solve problems and demonstrate leadership skills within a team environment.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products.

 Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive, generalist work experience, with an emphasis and proven track record on talent acquisition and strong knowledge across all HR disciplines.
  • SHRM-CP or similar certification.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-site workforce is preferred.
