HR Generalist/Recruiter- Entry Level

The Human Resource Generalist/Recruiter is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting designated offices. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting/employment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions

  1. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
  2. Develops, facilitates and implements all phases of the recruitment process.
  3. Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  4. Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  5. Assists with job posting and advertisement processes.
  6. Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
  7. Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  8. Assists with the interview process.
  9. Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  10. Attends and participates in job fairs and recruiting sessions.
  11. Handles employee outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  12. Assists in the administration of various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists in the preparation and maintenance of employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  13. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  14. Assists with benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
  15. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  16. Assists with the maintenance of human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  17. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  18. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

  1. Human Resources Capacity - Maintains broad diversity of knowledge base with 2-3 expert level areas.
  2. Problem Solving/Analysis - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely fashion.
  3. Project Management - Co-ordinates Projects.
  4. Technical Skills - Experience with at least one ATS, HRIS, Microsoft Office
  5. Customer Service - Conflict resolution skills, responds promptly to customer needs.
  6. Ethical Conduct - Maintains confidentiality.
  7. Time Management - Maintains high volume productivity level for essential functions.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Work from Home:

Occasionally if work from home standards are met.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, communicate verbally in front of groups, 1:1 and over the telephone and in email. The employee will also be required to engage in interactive communication with employees, typically hearing and reading / responding to their emails.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, bend and reach open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is estimated to be 10% with advance notice for this position.
