Reporting to the HR Manager, you will perform the duties at the professional level in all of the following HR Competencies: employment, employee relations, performance management, and training. The HR Generalist will be the HR business partner for the micro-amusement park staff in DTLA, working with the HR Manager and General Manager on all HR needs for the park in addition to some support for corporate HR needs. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.

Two Bit Circus’ HR Generalist works in collaboration with ADP Total Source as PEO, a firm that provides Two Bit Circus certain employee management tasks, including employee benefits, payroll and workers’ compensation, and risk/safety management.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to accept the most effective role.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality of personal and organizational information.
  • Works with the HR Manager in a start-up environment to constantly design, refine and implement new HR policies, procedures and processes to ensure exceptional service, efficiency and organization.
  • Drives the recruitment for Two Bit Circus, including corporate and park positions, using applicant tracking system. Posts ads and drives applicant sourcing, reviews applications, performs phone interviews, schedules and attends interviews with hiring managers, participates in selection process, job offer and onboarding of new hires.
  • Conducts new hire orientations.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to HR Manager for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Distributes and monitors park employee performance evaluations and ensure they are done in a timely manner (90 days, six months, one year and annually thereafter).
  • Maintains ADP Total Source HR information system and complies reports from the database.
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action. Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains records and shares with ADP all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Maintains park employee personnel files.
  • Maintains, updates and distributes the employee phone list.
  • Ensure compliance with the USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Updates, monitors and maintains eligible salary adjustments/increases based on performance evaluations.
  • Reports, monitors, and maintains all park employees workers’ compensation files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Partners with ADP for employee benefits, including new hire enrollment and annual open enrollment.
  • Create, maintains, and coordinates park employee recognition programs, partnering with the park General Manager.
  • Document and track park employee certifications, expirations and renewals, ensuring they are current in all trainings relevant to individual positions
  • Additional duties as assigned


  • Position is based in Los Angeles.
  • Human resource experience in entertainment or hospitality industry.
  • A bachelor’s degree and three to five years of HR Generalist experience required; five to eight year of HR experience preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required; California specialist HR certifications preferred.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment.
  • Requires comfort with public speaking and strong verbal presentation skills.
  • Experience working in Powerpoint or Google Slides creating presentations.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment is essential.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Requires regular and predictable attendance;


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require the employee to regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hand and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 6:00pm. Due to the park’s hours of operation and the schedules of the park staff, occasional evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
