We currently have an opportunity available for an HR Generalist l: Benefits & Payroll. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, responsibilities will include administration of employee benefits plans (health and welfare, life, disability and retirement plans), vendor relations, and maintenance of benefits records.   This position serves as a primary contact for employee inquiries and assists with new employee benefits orientation and annual benefits enrollment. Works closely with vendors obtaining information and resolving problems related to all benefits plans. Organizes and executes special events for HR Department and may assist in coordinating organization-wide events as required. Works to promote and administer employee wellness activities to maintain a healthy workforce. Process and maintenance of employee leaves assuring compliance and positive employee experience. Manages and processes file feeds to vendors for compensation and benefits. Acts as payroll back up and works with employees and department heads to assure accurate and timely payroll processing.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Provides employees with information regarding benefits administration and the application of policies and procedures. Responds to employee benefits inquiries referring complex question to the appropriate HR area and/or benefits vendor for response. Conducts follow-up to insure responses are made in a timely manner.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for employee information on various benefit programs to include conducting enrollment programs, conducting orientations and providing day to day administration.
  • Recommends improvements for benefit plan operations to enhance efficiencies.

  • Coordinates benefits portion of New Hire Orientation by delivering benefits orientation and providing complete and accurate information regarding benefits plans and policies for both RI and VA locations.

  • Administers various leave of absence programs including FMLA, STD, and LTD as for RI and   VA.

  • Inputs and maintains all benefits related information for all employees in the appropriate systems.   Ensures the accuracy of all data including third party vendor systems.       Performs benefit audits to ensure compliance with company policies, applicable laws and regulations, and promoting cost savings.
  • For all locations, works with benefit vendors to resolve issues; enrolling/terminating benefits of employees, and working in concert with vendors, consultants and HR leadership to ensure efficient benefit operations.
  • Assists employees with utilization of internal and external benefits related self-service technologies.
  • Accurate and timely payroll processing including vendor/bank feeds, tax service reports, W2 and 1095s.
  • Assist with day to day questions and updates to Ultipro Time Management system
  • Generates routine and ad hoc management reports and assists in preparing documents for management meetings.
  • Performs various administrative and support functions in support of department operations including file maintenance, scheduling, report generation, invoice reconciliation and payment and preparation of correspondence.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Candidate must be detail-oriented with strong administrative skills with a strong working knowledge of employee benefits programs.

  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and/or payroll applications is required.  

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and manage administrative tasks; with superior communications skills both written and verbal are required.

 

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or related field preferred

  • 3 to 5 years of benefits-related experience

  • Knowledge of benefit laws and regulations including COBRA, Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act, Employee Retirement and Income Security Act, Affordable Healthcare Act and Internal Revenue Service regulations required.
