Job Summary:


This position supports our US field sales, customer care and marketing organizations.  We have a very strong preference for candidates who have a strong history of high performance at an HR position that has included employee relations experience. This position will be hired at an HR Generalist I or HR Generalist II position based on experience.  The career path includes growth into HRBP work, growth into Training & Development or growth into Talent Management.


This role provides human resources support to employees and managers for the assigned groups.  Working with assigned business groups this position will partner directly with management to provide advice and counsel on HR transactions and practices in support of the objectives and operations of the business.  


This position requires the ability to travel once per month for 3-4 days each month to one of our locations (Usually Houston, Baton Rouge, Shreveport or WV).  HRG has the flexibility to choose his/her own travel schedule as long as the basic requirement is met.  When not travelling, the HRG will be based in Groveland, MA HQ office.


Here's what you'll do

  • Ensure that HR processes and procedures are consistently communicated and administered throughout all business situations.
  • Work with managers to effectively diagnose performance issues and coach managers in solving them
  • Deliver value-added HR programs, including but not limited to: performance management, talent reviews,  compensation adjustments and compliance training.
  • Partner with management in workforce planning, skills assessment and succession planning.
  • Work collaboratively with HR centers of excellence (compensation, benefits, and talent management) to address business unit needs.
  • Work as a customer of the Talent Acquisition team in assessing candidates for roles within business unit. 
  • Participate in discussions on performance improvement and assists in creating individual development plans partnering with managers to effectively address performance gaps. Ensures all appropriate documentation is maintained.
  • Conduct disciplinary, performance improvement and coaching interventions with employees
  • Provide guidance and counsel on employee and manager individual growth and development plans.  
  • Learn about the Caliper pre-employment and training needs assessments, become certified in Caliper interpretation and use Caliper tool with client base.

  • Self starter, ability to organize, prioritize and juggle multiple tasks while meeting and/or exceeding deadlines.  
  • Ability to work under pressure with rapidly changing priorities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience as HR Generalist or Volunteer Management professional or similar
  • Strong employee relations and performance management skills
  • Some employment law and other government compliance regulations.    

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial and business documents.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate, high quality work in a time-sensitive, fast paced environment is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills required in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with HRIS data bases, and on-line Applicant Tracking and Performance Management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
  • Must be self-aware and able to adapt to a variety of situations that require good judgment.
  • Requires strong attention to detail and follow-through.
