Our resort property, Shenandoah Crossing is seeking a professional and experienced Human Resources Generalist. This position entails work in all aspects of human resources, including duties related to policies and procedures, employee benefits, workers compensation, hiring and firing, equal employment opportunity matters, training and development, performance appraisal\management and employee relations. Independent judgment and discretion is regularly used by the HR Generalist with regard to matters of significance in a variety of manager, employee and administrative decision-making situations.

The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring that all managers and supervisors receive appropriate advice, information, counseling and coaching necessary to carry out the operational goals and objectives for the properties assigned to this position. The HR Generalist contacts are with supervisors, managers, department directors and resort leadership to discuss concerns, prevent and handle crises, provide administrative HR support, enhance communications and problem solving, ensure that appropriate and legal proactive and corrective actions are taken.

The work may include the use of and interpretation of the associate handbook policies, company guidelines or other established procedures containing or relating to complex employment matters that can be understood or interpreted only with advanced or specialized knowledge or skills in human resources. The individual in this position may also refer to and apply applicable federal, state laws and regulations. The HR Generalist regularly provides advice, assistance and follow-up on Company policies, procedures, and documentation. The HR Generalist will also coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.



  • Minimum Formal Education: High School Diploma. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: Human Resources Assistant or Coordinator experience of at least 3 to 5 years, preferably in the hospitality industry, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Essential Training, Knowledge, Licenses and /or Certifications: Customer service and quality fundamentals, MS Office Suite, knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines and of federal/state employment law and other government compliance regulations. SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Essential Professional Skills/Competencies: Must be able to work under stress. Professionally project a positive Company image to the public. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills, strong ability to think strategically and analyze information timely and accurately, strong interpersonal communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
