Overview:With more than 300 locations coast to coast, the RE Michel Company has opened a new position in its Human Resources Department located in Glen Burnie, MD. This position reports to/works with the HR Director and works in tandem with Human Resources Team.

Ideal candidate is highly confidential, self-motivated, energetic, results-oriented, a friendly and positive professional with the ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to manage changing priorities based on department and company needs with diplomacy.Strong oral and written communication and platform speaking skills with solid knowledge of federal and state laws, and compliance requirements coupled with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities Include:

Work with the HR Director to ensure regulatory compliance (federal and state) across all locations.

Unemployment claims processing, preparation and participation in related hearings.

Daily face to face, E-mail and phone communications with employees and management/upper management on a wide range of subjects from very basic to thought provoking.

Medical Leave – Federal FMLA and state leave which includes processing requests, reviewing documentation, tracking leave and communicating any issues with the employees and supervisors.

Assist with employee benefits administration as needed; participates in benefits renewal process.

Assist HR Director with internal investigations.

Effective and accurate communication of company policies and procedures.

Promote Company values in efforts to ensure programs, processes and policies are aligned with core beliefs and mission.

Employee Relations - Coach employees and supervisors/managers on positive employee relations and ongoing development needs.

Assist in the coordination and implementation of training programs.

Create various reports as requested related to the entire employee life cycle (training, on boarding, development, performance management, exit interviews, etc.) 


An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities is necessary.

  • Bachelors Degree / HR Certification Desired
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, leadership capabilities, emotional intelligence and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of HR fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an HRIS.
  • 8+ years Human Resources experience in distribution/similar environment.
  • Ability to effectively handle employee matters across multiple locations.
  • Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.
