HR Generalist

SECTION 1:  Position Overview (purpose of the role)

This role is responsible for benefits administration, HR compliance and selected functions within Employee Relations. The HRG will provide support in all functions, as needed, to the Human Resources department.   

SECTION 2:  Essential Functions (what the role does)

Total Rewards (Benefits and Compensation

  • Assist with compensation and benefits planning and administration including coordination of annual open enrollment, changes in coverage and reconciliation with benefit providers
  • Assist in administration of workers compensation claims, COBRA, terminations and disability
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee and benefit information in the HR systems by processing all new hires, status changes, salary changes, and terminations
  • Participate in annual vendor compensation survey
  • Initiate paperwork for personnel action requests (new hires, position changes, promotions, increases, etc.)
  • Assist in determining competitive salary rates as needed for market comparisons, i.e. compensation analysis
  • Assist in analyzing compensation data/salary surveys to ensure appropriate compensation across all departments
  • Support in administering existing employment agreements as needed.

Employee Relations

  • Participate in the planning and execution of employee functions and events
  • Assist in development of personnel policies and procedures and maintain the employee handbooks
  • Research and analyze various HR scenarios for management
  • Assist in managing the performance evaluation process, such as the initial probationary process and annual performance evaluations.  
  • Manage day-to-day administrative responsibilities related to Title IX training, investigations, policies, procedures and inquiries.
  • Provide guidance to management and employees regarding laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practices related to employee relations matters.
  • Maintain FCC and Certification compliance
  • Coordinate and conduct exit interviews
  • Assist in responding to Unemployment Claims as needed

 
General Responsibilities

  • Prepare required daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as well as special reports as requested
  • Respond to outside requests for employee verifications within 24 hours
  • Stay current with local, state and Federal HR laws, legislation, and trends, and maintain compliance with each
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and/or assist in all training activities identified by the business and/or client
  • Promote working together with all departments to build continual improvement within the company.
  • Maintain all personnel records in accordance with EEO, privacy, and related requirements
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned by management    

 

SECTION 3: Qualifications (experience, skills, behaviors needed to perform the role)

1.     Associate’s degree including strong understanding of HR principles and practices
2.     Knowledge of benefits information
3.     Demonstrated experience with HRIS systems, including strong technical aptitude allowing for quick mastery of various, web-based systems used in performing work
4.     Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint, etc.)
5.     PHR or SHRM CP desired
