HR Generalist Consultant (R18-077)

Partner with HR Business Partners and managers in all business units to help administer and coordinate Human Resources programs, processes, guidelines and policies to support short and long term business objectives.

Strategic Support

  • Support HR Business Partners and managers in developing and deploying strategies and initiatives to meet strategic business needs.
  • Analyze data and trends and make recommendations.
  • Coach and develop managers and supervisors on employee relations items, processes and procedures.

Employee Relations

  • Collaborate with other areas of HR to address employee relations issues, including those involving bargaining unit issues, leaves, disability, workers’ compensation, and pay.
  • Respond to employee questions and concerns regarding Human Resources programs, processes, guidelines and policies.
  • Respond to questions and guide managers through employee relations cases.
  • Calibrate performance issues with other HR Business Partners and with the Director, Employee Relations.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Ethics, other HR Business Partners and the Director, Employee Relations in addressing behavioral issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure managers follow federal and state employment regulations.
  • Respond to employee concerns or refer to the appropriate party within established timeframes.
  • Coach and develop managers to address employee relations issues.
  • Ensure compliance with union contract provisions.

Operations

  • Support or oversee investigations.
  • Respond to or refer employee or management questions with respect to pay, benefits, union contract interpretations or other HR issues.
  • In collaboration with Labor Relations, provide guidance on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Serve as a business subject matter expert on Human Resource programs, processes, guidelines and policies.
  • Complete required reports, training, and administrative work within established deadlines.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bring the following skills to our team:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of state, federal and local employment laws including case law interpretation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PGE management practices
  • Thorough knowledge of management best practices
  • Thorough knowledge of HR best practices including staffing, engagement, development, employee relations, and strategic planning
  • Thorough knowledge of utility industry, including funding mechanisms and regulatory constraints
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office

The successful candidate will typically have a college degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology or related field plus 5 years of related experience (including at least two of the following: employee relations, benefits, leave administration, staffing) or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification preferred. Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record required.
