Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent full-time employment opportunity in the Human Resources Department of our Atlanta, GA office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package. 


Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist provides HR support for the office in the following areas: recruitment, benefits administration, training and development, employee relations and performance management. .


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling and resolving employee relations issues. Elevate employee issues as needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for manager or employee on questions relating to policies or procedures.
  • Provide guidance to employees on issues related to FMLA, STD, and Worker’s Compensation.
  • Assist hiring manager in defining job requirements and drafting job descriptions.
  • Source, screen, and interview applicants for employment.
  • Interface with employment agencies as needed and make arrangements for temporary staff      
  • Review applications, prepare offer letters, conduct reference checks and background checks.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees and conduct new hire orientation
  • Assist Business Director with annual performance review process for Business Staff and Associates.
  • Assist managers in dealing with and documenting performance issues. Participate in disciplinary meetings or separations.
  • Ensure secretarial and reception coverage is provided.
  • Create HR related reports and provide HR metrics as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and state laws.
  • Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment. Serve as liaison between employees and Shared Services in resolving benefit issues.
  • Assist managers in identifying areas of development and make appropriate recommendations for training and development. May also serve as office liaison for Business Staff and Attorney professional development.
  • Process new hire and separation paperwork. Make HRIS transactions and ensure data integrity.
  • Ensure recruitment, personnel, I-9 and EEO files are properly set up and maintained.

Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel .
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Strong organizational skills.


Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • Three to five plus years of experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or equivalent.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required.
  • Requires manual dexterity and physical mobility, including the ability to move  frequently (several times an hour) from work station or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with team
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
