POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for administering and implementing Human Resources Programs to include recruiting, compensation and benefits, associate relations, safety and employment practices. Ensures company policies and procedures are in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. HR oversight for multiple locations, and centrally headquartered in Mendota Heights, MN.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise supervisors on employment laws and associate relations, including policies, procedures and disciplinary actions
  • Support HR programs for recruitment, performance management and associate development
  • Provide advice and recommendations on appropriate organizational structure and staffing
  • Actively recruit for open positions, preparing postings and ads, running appropriate checks as required.  Advise supervisors on candidates for best match and hire
  • Counsel associates and supervisors on conflict and problem resolution
  • Provide support for workers compensation, unemployment compensation, wage and hour inquiries, OSHA, DOT and related issues
  • Provide information to associates regarding corporate benefit programs, payroll inquiries and career development opportunities
  • Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to associate relations, and report necessary or suggested changes to management
  • Coordinate and manage investigations related to harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, theft, etc. and acting as lead investigator
  • Assist supervisors to assure a safe and compliant work environment
  • Provide communication and guidance on loss prevention/risk management issues
  • Provide superior customer service to our team members
  • Lead strategic HR projects to include Workday optimization to include implementation of upgrades and new functionality, creating user training, report writing, and system performance maintenance, as required
  • Maintain an ethical image in the company

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Knowledge of Human Resources laws and ability to grasp company HR procedures and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of, recruitment, benefits, safety, compensation systems, associate relations, and unemployment and worker’s compensation
  • Possess high integrity, loyalty, compassion, and maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information
  • Good decision maker who is well organized and can prioritize and plan ahead
  • Ability to work in a diverse organization where group interaction, team playing, and human relations are critical to success
  • Excellent communicator and listener who is assertive yet personable and flexible
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • 30-40% travel required to support business operations
