JOB SUMMARY

Serve as HR Business partner to plan, direct and coordinate human resource services for field based customer groups with a significant seasonal workforce. Responsible for all HR program implementation for assigned market.  Provide ongoing coaching and talent management support to managers and associates.  Design and implement comprehensive organizational development programs for each assigned customer groups. Travel in assigned market to deliver hands on HR coaching and support to assigned leaders.

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Lead field performance and talent management efforts by coaching field leaders through the performance management process.
  • Lead, monitor and coach field leaders through the talent review process and resulting action planning.
  • Provide talent assessment expertise in selecting field leadership and ensure successful on-boarding of leadership.
  • Partner with Market VPs to plan and implement key people initiatives that support strategic business goals.
  • Provide direct support to leadership to strengthen capabilities including 1:1 coaching, group team dynamics, new leader assimilations and general leadership training
  • Work with assigned leaders to identify skill gaps and implement programs and tools to address. 
  • Attend weekly market and regional calls to reinforce people initiatives, provide HR updates and support market regional activities.
  • Travel extensively in order to provide HR expertise and support to leadership with the heaviest travel from January through April.
  • Drive action planning to  improve associate engagement
  • Provide support for associate relations escalation issues that require HR partner expertise and input in addition to EEOC and legal concerns
  • Provide expertise on special projects and initiatives

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, business administration, Human Resources Management, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and exempt level human resources generalist experience.
  • Ability to travel 60% annually, with heavy travel annually from January through April, primarily on the Eastern coast of the U.S..
  • A minimum of ten years progressive exempt level human resources experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and solid coaching sills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, decision-making, and problem solving skills.
  • For California role, demonstrated knowledge and experience with state law, regulations and requirements
  • A thorough understanding of: Civil Rights Act, its amendments and corresponding executive orders 11246, 11375; ADA; FMLA; ADEA; PDA; COBRA; current case law related to major employment legislation.
  • Experience recruiting for retail leadership positions
  • Experience supporting problem resolution and performance management programs.
  • Experience investigating harassment (racial, sexual) and discrimination (racial, sexual, age, pregnancy) claims.
  • Experience interpreting and developing company policies and procedures of intermediate complexity.
  •  Experience interpreting and applying ADA and FMLA guidelines.
  • Experience conducting or facilitating management training.
  • Exposure to automated human resources information systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to successfully work with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment; flexible, supportive and adaptive to changes in direction, priorities and job duties.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently.
  • Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system.  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • HR support in a multi-unit retail structure
  • Certification through the Society of Human Resources Management (PHR or SPHR).
  • Experience with PeopleSoft human resource information system.
  • Experience supporting diversity programs.
