Position Overview
The HR Business Partner provides HR support to the fee-earning population within the assigned department and acts as the primary contact for the Departments as assigned.  This position provides advice and guidance on a number of HR matters including employee relations. In conjunction with Recruiting team, liaise with the Partners to establish recruitment needs. The HR Business Partner manages and coordinates career development strategies and initiatives, and assists in learning and development activities for lawyers including training and other programming efforts. This position also manages performance management, compensation and diversity initiatives.

Responsibilities
Compensation:
•Coordinate the annual salary review process for assigned department; meet with
  DMPs, PGLs and OMPs to determine increases; and moderate increases across
  all departments
•Ensure salary data is accurately updated and maintained
•Manage and coordinate internal promotion process within Departments
•Manages the firm’s lawyer review programs; examine performance review forms
 for action points and proactively work in conjunction with the Learning and
 Development team to identify training needs and career development plans

Employee Relations:
•Oversee the coordination of all leave of absence within Departments working in
 conjunction with the Benefits team
•Manage and coordinate all flex-time and secondment agreements with HRIS
 Specialist ensuring compliance with firm’s policy.  Discuss requests with 
 Partners while considering business needs
•Provide advice and guidance on employee relations issues including disciplinary
 matters and performance issues; where necessary, investigate matters and
 conduct meetings autonomously
•Conduct exit interviews for assigned groups of lawyers, analyzes information and
 trends while ensuring relevant information is communicated and where
 necessary the appropriate action is taken

Learning and Development
•Work with the Learning & Development team to:
•Develop and execute training, development, and talent management programs
 which include substantive skills training
•Conduct associate training needs analysis
•Work with firm leaders, including DMPs and PGLs, to coordinate and develop
 curriculum and programs that support practice area needs and goals
•Implement training and development initiatives and projects within the practice
 areas
•Create and implement programs and opportunities for lawyer career
 development through coaching, mentoring programs, personal development
 plans, and related activities
•Manage relevant department training budgets and expenses

Career Development
•Support the development, implementation, and use of work allocation programs
  for lawyers
•Provide administrative management to the work allocation and attorney staffing
  programs
•Provide leadership in the firm's efforts to improve retention
•Manage the transition of lawyers between career levels and the transition of
  lawyers departing the Firm
•Perform other duties as assigned

 interpersonal skills
•Ability to act at the highest level of discretion and maintains confidentiality
•Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others to achieve
 results in a demanding environment
•Demonstrates commitment to lawyer professional development
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
•Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled

Travel
This position requires 10-20% travel per year.

Education/Experience/Certifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field; Juris Doctorate
 preferred
•Minimum five (5) years of law firm professional development or related
 professional experience, preferably in a large law firm environment
