POSITION PURPOSE:

The HR Business Partner supports employees and management in meeting business objectives by serving as a change agent, consultant and coach.  Aspects of the human resources function in which this position will influence include the following areas: resource planning and staffing, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance feedback, training and professional development. The HR Business Partner assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, proactively communicates and addresses those needs with management and ensures consistent messages are conveyed to the employee population.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  1. Conduct regular meetings with managers and supervisors to address HR topics including, but not limited to, resource needs, employee relations, performance feedback and documentation, training opportunities and messaging to employees. Provide coaching or other consultant-type support to managers and supervisors as needed.

 

  1. Collaborate with managers and employees to establish and update position descriptions.  Validate job classification against FLSA requirements, EEO category data and salary grading information for each created or updated position description; recommend changes to HR Director as needed.

 

  1. Assist Talent Acquisition Manager with recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel, students, and temporary employees, including internal transfers and promotions.

 

  1. Participate in the new employee onboarding process and provide assistance to new employees as they begin employment and share findings with manager and HR Director.

 

  1. Work closely with managers and employees to establish and improve work relationships, build morale, and address work environment needs as a means to influence employee retention.

 

  1. Assist in managing employee matters to a satisfactory employment action.  Participate in investigations, brainstorming sessions and decision execution activities.  Ensure complete and proper documentation of our personnel records.

 

  1. Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees through our performance evaluation process.  Encourage employees to complete self-assessments and managers to complete evaluations. Through the evaluation process, encourage transparency and clarity of expectations for performance.

 

  1. Conduct exit interviews of terminated employees; analyze data and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement

 

  1. Coordinate instructor led training and development opportunities as requested by managers; schedule presenters, conference rooms, meals and refreshments as needed; track participation.

 

  1. File workers compensation claims; monitor employee progress and determine course of action to ensure a timely return to work.  Provide status updates to management. 

 

  1. Process and administer leave of absence requests, FMLA and disability claims. Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.

 

  1. Support benefits administration activity including, but not limited to employee education, enrollment, renewal meetings, data analysis and program enhancements.

 

  1. Assist in the development and coordination of employee wellness activities and initiatives. 

 

  1. Know and understand legal requirements for the day-to-day management of employees in conjunction with company policies and procedures.  Provide interpretation of company policies with support of HR Director.

 

  1. Answer employee questions related to payroll, benefits, training, development, policies, etc. within 24 hours of receiving inquiry.  Provide backup to all other areas of the HR department as needed.

 

Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:  

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field

preferred.

PHR and / or SHRM-CP preferred.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:                       

5 years human resource experience required.

Knowledge of principles and practices in human resources.           

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge of general office equipment required.
