The University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for the position of Human Resource Associate (Associate Director of Talent Acquisition). This position is responsible for managing/leading the recruitment efforts for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement. The Associate Director will develop and implement recruitment plans and strategies, always striving to bring in the best possible talent. Reporting to the Director of Talent Management, the Associate Director will work with the Advancement Leadership team, hiring managers, college and university staff, central HR, and a network of contacts to fill our open positions. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with hiring managers to develop strategic recruitment plans. Provide a high level of customer service in consulting with and guiding hiring managers in comprehensive recruitment and staffing issues, policies, and processes.
  • Identify recruiting opportunities by researching new sources for talent, cultivating relationships with internal talent as well as external industry professionals, and networking with other universities and non-profit organizations. Utilize broad market knowledge to creatively network to build, manage and maintain a pipeline of qualified and diverse talent.
  • Effectively manage the hiring process through:
    • Advertising/sourcing candidates
    • Screening/Evaluating applicants
    • Conducting thoughtful and professional interviews
    • Staffing and leading search committees
    • Conducting reference/background checks
    • Making hiring recommendations
  • Co-present departmental recruitment training sessions with the Director of Talent Management to ensure staff are well prepared to effectively interview candidates and understand the UIC recruitment process.
  • Partner with the Director of Talent Management to efficiently onboard and help assimilate newly hired staff. Assist with onboarding materials and orientation programs.
  • Work closely with central HR and colleges/units to facilitate effective relationships. Advise hiring managers on general university HR resources including orientation, benefits, compensation, payroll, training and professional development, and policies/procedures.

Requirements

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource administration, labor relations, business administration, or a field related to the position.
  • Two years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
  • Demonstrated experience with full life-cycle recruitment, including face-to-face interviewing, required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in higher education or a non-profit organization. Experience recruiting/hiring within a civil service system is a plus.
  • Experience recruiting for professional-level staff positions.
  • HR generalist experience.
  • Applicant tracking system experience.
  • Proficient with the use of technology such as Internet sites and social media/networking to proactively source candidates.
  • Knowledgeable in employment law.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity with ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information.
  • High level of independent decision-making and problem-solving capability.
  • Well- developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work well in an environment with competing demands.
