HR Accountant/Benefits Coordinator

Jones Companies is searching for a self-motivated accountant with benefit experience. This person will be handling the administrative requirements of group benefit plans, including the 401k administration. This position requires extensive communication and interaction with our Insurance vendors and employees.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Strong knowledge of benefit support management.

  • Participate in benefits administration, approval of invoices for payment and produce inter-company invoices with supporting documentation.  

  • Act as a liaison/business partner between Jones Vendors

  • Distribution of annual employee notices as required and assisting with benefits reporting requirements.

  • Participate in 401K plan administration. Weekly transmissions and update elections

  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned


EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting and Benefit  experience required

  • Fundamental understanding of internal financial processes; monthly closing, year-end closing, and annual audits

  • Fundamental understanding of monthly revenue and expense accruals

  • Candidate must be willing to be a part of a team and work in a team oriented environment

  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking, detailed-oriented, and self-aware

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment

  • 2+ years of benefit administration 

  • Reconciliation experience is required

  • Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Dependability—the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

  • Experience with V Look Ups, IF Statements, and Pivot Tables are a plus.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
