Job Purpose:

The Head of HR, US, is a critical member of the Global HR Leadership Team with responsibility as a strategic advisor and driver of talent and culture initiatives to deliver business results. E.g., OD/OE, succession planning, performance management, talent acquisition, employee engagement, employee relations, career and capability development, workforce planning/analytics, etc.

As part of the IB wider HR team, the incumbent influences the HR Strategic plan and operational goals, contributing to organisation-wide policies which need to be aligned to local practices and procedures. With a senior leadership team (SLT) committed to developing our talent and aligning it with our corporate mission, this role is of immense value. Global HR needs a true team-player to contribute to identifying strategic and operational capabilities and implementing positive change.

Job Duties:

Strategy & Execution:

The Head of HR US is a core member of the HR leadership team required to lead and fully execute key initiatives that support the HR strategy, contributing on all key people processes (performance management, compensation, benefits, payroll, learning and development programs, etc.)

  • Provides strategic guidance and input on workforce planning, succession planning, compensation, benchmarking, etc. 
  • Benchmarks against human resource/talent best practices and implement innovation and continuous improvement in support of a dynamic, evolving international organization
  • Co-develops and executes a vision for attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent within an international organization
  • Helps drive a culture of performance and advises on performance management issues by partnering with Managers and Heads of functions
  • Organizes, staffs, motivates and leads a highly effective HR team in Bethesda, that delivers value to the organization

Learning and Development:

Within the agreed budget, creates and implements a variety of learning and training programs to support the needs of the employees and the business

  • Works closely with best in class vendors to develop programs with a high return on investment across the organisation
  • Provides guidance on the implementation of training and mentorship programs to retain, inspire, and build leaders at all levels

Change Management Initiatives:

  • Develops and drives stakeholder change management plans appropriate to support incremental and transformational organizational change
  • Works closely with the HR Leadership team to support all organisational changes and provides expert advice when called to do so

Employee relations, Employee Engagement & Employee Wellbeing:

Manages employee relations, partnering with key stakeholders to develop viable initiatives/interventions to create a positive and appreciative work culture

  • Accurately and objectively diagnoses organization issues, develops solutions, solves problems, and implements action plans to address these issues in a timely and professional way
  • Develops and executes initiatives to improve Organizational Health and Employee Wellbeing
  • Cultivates strong employee relations to foster an inclusive, safe, and positive people culture. Builds trust with employees and deals with situations of conflict within the tenets of IB Code of Conduct and the IB’s values
  • Oversees and delivers on all matters such as onboarding & orientation so that new staff feel welcomed, are able to settle in and begin contributing without any delay

HR Policies, procedures , HR information management & Compliance:

  • Guides leaders and employees regarding Company policies, values, HR programs (benefits, pay and salary) administration and interpretation to ensure policies and procedures are handled consistently
  • Leverages data and analytics to uncover insights about employee engagement and opportunities to enhance retention and satisfaction
  • Ensures that activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO,FLSA, etc.) at all times. HR Budget Management
  • Manages the HR Budget for the Bethesda office

Requirements

Job Requirements:

Experience and knowledge: 

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or in a related field
  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in Human Resources with experience, in an international/multinational organisation, as an HR generalist or equivalent of which at least 10 years should be in a managerial or leadership role with a strong track record of personal achievement and advancement
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced setting; enthusiastic about the potential strategic options, well-grounded in pragmatic approaches to structuring options available •
  • Must have up-to-date knowledge of employment law and other government compliance regulations

Technical and soft skills:

  • Strong organizational, time management skills and personal efficiency
  • Strong business acumen, Financial stewardship, multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Excellent communication & listening skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong strategic agility, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills – proven high learning agility
  • Leverages data to guide decision-making
